  • Toast and Cheers: Our Wedding Logo

Since I was at a pretty impressionable age during the Disney Renaissance era, you can bet your bottom dollar that I’m a fairytale fanatic. But Mommy made a rather amusing blunder of taking me to see Disney movies as well as buying me storybooks by the Brothers Grimm, Charles Perrault and Hans Christian Andersen. Yup, imagine the horror for a 5-year old me. Not that this is a bad thing because, eventually, I grew to like the original folk tales more. But as a kid, it was not only confusing but slightly distressing. So I decided that the fairytale theme of my wedding should lean towards the Disney versions – with happily-ever-after endings. I’ve certainly struck gold because my fiancé is also a huge fan of fairytales and totally supports the idea of a Disney-esque wedding. Yay! So what’s next? We thought we could create a wedding emblem to represent our mutual passion, our imagination and of course our future. We’ve also come up with a name for our wedding, its called Finally Found. No surprise what it was that we’d finally found. 😛 Now click to see how all these elements add up on our new wedding logo! Tadah! Here’s one without a background for the invitation cards and photo booth backdrop. 🙂 It’s uh-mazing, isn’t it? But it wasn’t always so pretty. Here’s a sweet attempt by my fiancé. Well, A for effort but I told him not to give up his day job. 😛 In case you’re wondering, our final logo was created by our good friend and also wedding videographer/photographer, Yong Thye of  http://www.simvideo.com.my . He’s also the Creative Director of Honeyz Cube and Honeyz Paint House . He’s such a talent! So we thought we had to invite Yong Thye to Paris with us for a Disney-themed photo and video shoot. And we almost cried when he said yes. Haha! We managed to produce some truly breathtaking captures, courtesy of Yong Thye of course. But before I publish them here, I thought I could first show you some of our wedding prep work. 😛 My Cinderella story begins with Sinderella ! • Bridal Beauty Log: Introducing My New Zit Buster Team – The LJH Tea Tree Range!

We all know that Tea Tree Oil is the best answer to achieving ‘acne freedom’ due to its unique disinfecting and calming properties. But the sad news is, it’s never been very effective for me. All it does is choke me with its sharp herbal scent. Okay, occasionally it treats a couple of pimples but they usually come back like uninvited guests – unannounced and bothersome. I was suffering the aftermath of a zit attack when my good friend, Ivan of HKCplaza.com handed me one of LJH’s best sellers – the Tea Tree range. Even though I greatly appreciated his kind gesture, I wasn’t sure if the product was going to work on me. But as the old cliche goes, ‘There’s no harm in trying’. And since I was heading overseas for my wedding shoot soon, I lugged the LJH skincare products along. Lo and behold! Like a miracle that only happens in fairytales, my skin cleared up and there was almost no zit left on my skin within a couple of days. I used ‘almost’ because there was still one tiny spot on my chin but that’s another story. 😛 So here I am, two weeks after using the products – happy and pretty much spot-free! Click for a full account of my Tea Tree skincare journey! Meet the LJH Tea Tree Trio! In case you’re wondering, the numbers on the labels signify the percentage of tea tree extract content in each formulation. For example, Tea Tree 90 Essence is made up of 90% tea tree oil.  These days my skin care regimen begins with the LJH Tea Tree 30 Cleansing Foam that gently lifts the grime and dirt off my face. As the label states, the cleansing foam is made up of 30% natural tea tree extract which helps it fight acne problems while keeping your face clean and refreshed. Its pH5.5 acidity level is perfect for maintaining healthy skin. Besides tea tree extract, the cleansing foam also contains witch hazel, a natural astringent which can help with acne control by reducing inflammation and decreasing oil, as well as Hippophae rhamnoides extract that offers 800 times more vitamins than an apple. The formulation also includes Centella asiatica that promotes collagen synthesis, promoting skin’s natural regeneration. And the best thing of all? It does not have Paraben, Mineral Oil, Artifiial Coloring, Benzophenone, Fragrance, Animal Material and Triethanolamine in its ingredient list. Ingredients: Melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) extract, hamamelis virginiana (witch hazel) extract, centella asiatica extract, adansonia digitata leaf extract, morus alba root extract, hippophae rhamnoides extract. More info of the cleansing foam here . My wholesome skincare regimen continues with LJH’s Tea Tree 90 Essence . The Tea Tree essence has one of the lightest consistencies – almost like water. It glides on very easily and dissipates very quickly into the skin, leaving no sticky residue. As I’ve mentioned earlier, I’ve never been a huge fan of tea tree oil’s pungent aroma so I was glad that the essence is fragrance-free. Now I can go out without smelling like a Narrow-leaved Tea-tree! It’s ingredients are similar to that of the Tea Tree Cleansing Foam. The stark difference between their ingredients list is the tea tree extract content. Tea Tree extract makes up a whopping 90% of its content so it is an effective tool to get rid of zits. I usually use this after cleansing and applying toner so that my skin can absorb it fully. Ingredients: Tea tree extract (90%), trehalose, vitamin tree, centella asiatica. More info of the essence here . The great thing about this LJH Tea Tree line is that they treat your zits without stripping your skin of its natural oils, unlike many acne treatments which may be too drying. For extra moisturization, you could also apply the LJH Tea Tree 80 Cream that performs dual functions – clear up blemishes and hydrate the skin. I took a whiff of the jar and was surprised that the tea tree fragrance is slightly more prominent in this cream but it is not unbearable with a the usual strong medicinal scent. In fact, it smells light and soothing. The texture may look thick in the picture but trust me, looks are deceiving. I smoothed it over my skin and within seconds, the cream was absorbed fully without a greasy feeling. On top of tea tree oil and centella asiatica, it also contains Aquaregul-K for 96 hours of moisture and glow. It retains water in the skin and acts as an antioxidant to protect your skin from the damaging effects of the sun. Ingredients: Melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) extract, glycerin, centella asiatica extract, hippophae rhamnoides extract, hamamelis virginiana (witch hazel) extract, thymus vulgaris (thyme) flower/leaf extract. More info of the cream here . These days, the humid weather and work stress still give me occasional pimples but on the whole, I think my face has cleared up quite a bit. I never knew topical creams could render such excellent results. I wish the range could include an exfoliating scrub too. I would really love to slough those dead skin cells off without causing a pimple outbreak. Meanwhile, 5 Honeyz crowns for its effectiveness and positive skin care outcomes! 😀 As mentioned, I brought it along with me to Paris for my photoshoot. I used it everyday to maintain a clear complexion. Hmm.. it blends in pretty well with the City of Romance eh? Do you know that the creation of the LJH Tea Tree 90 Essence stemmed from the popularity and effectiveness of their LJH Doctor’s Care Facial Mask Sheet TeaTree? Yup. After many customers with sensitive skin saw vast improvements in their skin condition after using the mask, LJH decided to create a slightly different version of the mask for everyday use. Subsequently, the LJH Tea Tree 90 essence was born. I brought the mask along with me to complement my tea tree skincare regime too. The humidity in airline cabins can get pretty low causing dry and flaky skin so my skin tends to break out after a long-haul flight. Well, this time was an exception because I used the mask on the plane too! 😛 The LJH Tea Tree range is now available on the Cube Store . Psst! We’re also having a GSS discount on the Cube Store for your favorite products. If you haven’t visited the store, don’t wait! Stocks are very limited! Meanwhile, for first dibs on all the newest LJH products, like HKCplaza.com ‘s Facebook page at  https://www.facebook.com/HKCplaza  to receive all their latest info! Thanks for reading and au revoir! • Bridal Beauty Log: My DIY Wedding Looks

A timeless, sleek bridal look need not come at a hefty price or with an exorbitant amount of makeup. Oh wait, if you’re expecting this to be another beauty tutorial to show you how I added the bit of oomph to the eyes or created the luscious cascading waves, you’re not quite right. As you already know, I decided to defy convention and DIY my own wedding looks for my photo shoot last month. Honestly, it was intimidating for a makeup novice like me but I realised later that all I needed was some good makeup tools, great sartorial choices and tons of practice. I guess the rule of thumb is to keep the embellishments to a minimum and pick dresses that are not only imbued with panache but that also reflect your taste. So I thought before I demonstrate how I did my makeup, I should first show you the different looks I’ve come up with for the shoot. Bonus! Also gonna showcase one of the photos from my wedding shoot. 😛 [df_divider el_width=”100″ style=”solid” accent_color=”#EEEEEE” border_t_width=”2px” padding=”20px 0″ position=”align_center” el_class=””] My bare naked face. Watch me transform! My jet-lagged eyes were instantly brightened after a few swipes of some gorgeous purple and gold hues from Esyoro Makeup . This is the eye shadow look that I’ll be showing you how to do in a later post. I was going for a Princess Belle-inspired look, so I curled and half tied my hair. Then added a bejewelled hair band to up the Disney princess factor. Haha! Psst! I got this gorgeous head piece from 65Daigou.com . I did not wanna let my makeup overwhelm my features, so I kept the makeup simple with light pink cheeks and a stained pout. I channelled my inner Belle in this flattering toga dress with drape details from Loov Production . Since I wanted to create my own rendition of Belle, I discarded the traditional off-shoulder ball gown design but of course kept the iconic yellow tone because you know… it is legendary. 😛 Giving the Disney Princess look another go with a wreath headband and beautiful prim lace gown (also from Loov Production.) Loov offers some of the most affordable and beautiful dresses I’ve ever seen. In case you’re wondering, I’m not sponsored by them but I’m truly in awe of their quality and impeccable service. Check out their collection here . Please ignore the madhouse behind me. Seriously, who has time to tidy the room when you’re dressing up for the biggest photoshoot of your life? 😛 Budget-savvy bridal tip! This was supposed to be my Snow White dress. But I decided to recycle it for my Sleeping Beauty themed shoot and inject some royal edge into it by swapping the floral band for a sparkly tiara and adding a long flowing veil. Who says you can’t create different looks with the same dress? It saves money and also space in your suitcase! My Cinderella look! We all know that Cinderella is always covered in cinders from the fire and since I was also going to film a Cinderella-themed wedding video too, I chose this ash grey dress from Love Potion  to represent Cinderella’s unfortunate plight. I wore my hair in a pony tail and wrapped the elastic loosely with a section of my hair. Lastly, traded the flares for this figure-hugging dress from  Love Potion . It is actually my most favorite look of the lot – Old Hollywood Glam. This has nothing to do with Disney. In fact, it was inspired by James Bond. Why 007? Because my lovely fiancé invited me to a James Bond themed cocktail party a year ago, under the pretense that it was his friend’s soiree. Then he proposed in the presence of our family and friends. Awww… sniff. Full story  here . So we decided to pay homage to that memorable evening and put our own spin on the cool James Bond style for our wedding shoot. Haha! • The Enchanted Rose Episode: Our Beauty And The Beast Wedding Photos

Beast: I want to do something for her… but what? Cogsworth: Well, there’s the usual things: flowers… chocolates… promises you don’t intend to keep… Haha! I’m glad I got my flowers, chocolates, promises that were sealed in our wedding vows (phew!) as well as some very stunning Disney inspired wedding photos! Speaking of Disney, I think the House of Mickey is totally slaying it this year with the release of the new Cinderella movie, Frozen Fever (an animated short sequel to Frozen) and now, a new touring theatrical production of Beauty and the Beast! I’ve heard so much about its award-wining score, costumes and talented cast, that I was over the moon when they decided to pay a call to this part of the world too. Woo hoo! You can bet your bottom dollar that I snapped up the best seats in the house as soon as the tickets were available on Sistic. Haha! Before I marvel at the excellence of the musical, let’s revel in the magic of the Enchanted Rose with the next instalment in my Toast and Cheers series of wedding photos, our very own homage to the magic of Beauty And The Beast, I present to you ‘La Belle et Le Beau’. Enjoy! [df_divider el_width=”100″ style=”solid” accent_color=”#EEEEEE” border_t_width=”2px” padding=”20px 0″ position=”align_center” el_class=””] We engaged two photographers with completely different styles for our Beauty and the Beast pre-wedding photoshoot. This next collection of photos was taken by Ada and Aki of A Square Visual Studio . They feature a new form of photography known as ‘Indie Pop’ (aka 小清新) which is a blend of dreamy and quaint photography styles. This new form of photography was incarnated by the the ‘Indie Pop’ culture of the the UK music industry in the 1980s. It was popular for chronicling the little things in one’s life through refreshing, gentle and positive music themes. Later, this interesting sub-culture expanded its influence to the movie and photography industry. A few photography houses in the region have jumped on the bandwagon and adopted this new style of photography and one of them is A Square Visual Studio. And here’s their take on our Enchanted Rose story. Once upon a time, in a faraway land… We took up their PW01 package that includes makeup, 25 edited photos, a gorgeous hardbound album and a huge photo canvas. You can see the full details of the package here – http://www.asquare.com.sg/pre-wedding-photography-packages Psst! If you’re interested to engage A Square too, here’s what they’ve offered you belles, Quote JULIANA to get an awesome 10% off when you take up A Square’s amazing photography packages! I sincerely believe there is no other video company out there that would have accommodated all my zany requests in the way Sim Video has. Whether it was out in Paris taking photos in the wind and rain, or filming a Disney style epic, Sim Video has time and time again surpassed all my wildest expectations. They’ve captured and immortalized moments that I will always treasure, beautiful memories of the best day of my life, moments that I can share with my family, friends and even my children next time. And here’s his rendition of the perfect Beauty and the Beast fairytale. 🙂 Perhaps there’s something there that wasn’t there before… And this was where our inspiration came from. 🙂 Disney based their version of the Beauty and the Beast story in Loire Valley, France. So I guess it comes as no surprise that we chose France as the main set up of our fairytale wedding. However, instead of going to the very scenic Loire Valley, we decided to give our story a contemporary and urban twist by making the City of Lights, Paris the backdrop of our story instead. The end result was still astonishing so we didn’t regret forgoing the ancient castles and historic towns for the modern majestic Louvre Pyramid and Eiffel Tower. The idea of being in France already gave our wedding story a nice La Belle et la Bête overtone. And of course, all these could have gone to waste without a good visualiser. With Yong Thye’s good eye for composition, we managed to shoot a full wedding video and achieve our fairytale pictorial goals in four days! Thank you YT and Sim Video for the breathtaking photos! I’m so glad I can always relive those amazing and magical memories again through his photos. I must say, each and everyone of the wedding vendors listed above really went out of their way to ensure our wedding was as magical as it could possibly be. • Summer Lovin’ In The UK

My recent vacation once again proved that it’s a real super power to look totally on fleek when you’re on the go. Seriously, fashion goals can only be achieved if you’re lugging a huge suitcase and sleeping five hours a day – because you’re spending the rest of your time picking out the next outfit, doing your makeup, styling your hair and travelling. Sheesh, just how do these fashion bloggers come up with a cornucopia of stylish ensembles every time they’re on holiday? To top it off, the summer weather I experienced in the UK this time was also pretty atypical. Think low temperatures and extremely cold winds. Oh wait – is that normal UK weather? This meant that I needed to prepare more covered up clothes like… pants. Well, I’m never a fan of long garments as they usually bring attention to my not-so-flattering-looking thighs. Pfft! Thank heavens that fashion labels are now coming up with more high waisted bottoms that are perfect for creating the ‘legs for days’ illusion. Haha! So despite the inherent challenges of looking fashion-forward on vacation, I managed to come up with a few looks that I was absolutely happy with. Woo hoo! Let’s rock and roll! So many places, so little time. • The Rolling Hills And Streets Of Lan Kwai Fong

Last November, B and I were invited to a good friend’s wedding in Hong Kong and since we were both busy with work, we only stayed for the weekend. Even though the trip was as short as a blink, it still offered a sweet cornucopia of culinary and cultural surprises. We wanted to make the best of our two-day trip so we booked a hotel in the heart of the city’s swinging and vibrant neighborhood, Lan Kwai Fong. And guess what? While roaming the charming streets of Lan Kwai Fong, we actually chanced upon an unassuming restaurant at a basement of a building that turned out to be a Michelin starred establishment! The restaurant is called The Boss and its delectable Chinese cuisine menu is the brainchild of Chaîne des Rôtisseurs medal winner, Chef Tony Lam. Quelle chance! We were also overwhelmed by the colorful culture and history at one of Hong Kong’s oldest streets, Pottinger Street or the Stone Slabs Street. All in all, we had a marvellous time in the ‘Pearl of The Orient’ and can’t wait to go back again. Meanwhile, let’s recollect the quaint charm of the Hong Kong streets through my lens! 😛 Lan Kwai Fong Hotel Lunch at The Boss Psst! That’s not a real mushroom by the way. It’s a steamed bun that look like a mushroom and it’s extremely delicious! Roaming the charming streets of Lan Kwai Fong and feeling like I time-travelled back to 1997. • Hello Kitty Orchid Garden – Singapore’s First Hello Kitty Cafe

It’s ki-tea time! Besides being a Disney trouper, I’m also a huge Hello Kitty fan. Any merchandise adorned with the adorable feline always sets my heart aflutter! So it was really cool when I got to visit Taiwan’s Hello Kitty Sweets Cafe with my best girlfriends who totally didn’t care that we almost missed our flight, just so that I could take photos with my favorite Hello Kitty treats! They are the bestest friends I tell you! Well, I guess I don’t have to take a 4-hour flight to have my Hello Kitty latte anymore because our favorite feline has finally arrived in our little garden city! Woo hoo! The cafe, aptly named Hello Kitty Orchid Garden, is decorated with a perfectly matching secret garden theme! And the best part? It’s open 24 hours! Now you can get your dose of Hello Kitty even in the wee hours of the morning! Yay! I’ve found another supper venue. 😋 It opens today at Changi Airport Terminal 3! Once it’s open, it’s never gonna close. Haha! Scroll down to take a quick virtual tour of the cafe with me! The entrance of the cafe sports a slightly European-inspired design and upon entering the premises, you’re greeted by a garden-esque surrounding that looks totally gush-worthy. Customers also get to purchase the cafe’s very own custom tea and coffee blends as well as some DIY plant kits. What makes this Hello Kitty Cafe so unique is its one-of-a-kind double-bowed Hello Kitty as seen below. Kawaii! The cafe also carries plush toys fashioned to resemble this special Singaporean Hello Kitty and it’s limited to only 500 pieces in the world! If you have a sweet tooth like me, you wouldn’t miss their dessert counters that display a pretty broad selection of cakes, tarts, soft serve frozen yogurt and gelato. Now let’s step into the world of orchids and kitty! The cafe took inspiration from our national flower, the Vanda Miss Joaquim as well as Hello Kitty’s kawaii flair for a uniquely Singaporean aesthetic. They even have a back story for their Orchid Garden design. Customers can enjoy reading all about Hello Kitty’s little orchid germination journey straight out of the pages of her journal hanging around the cafe. I love the minimalist and classy approach to the design of the cafe. It is nothing like Taiwan’s Hello Kitty Sweets cafe where ‘pink and girly’ themes dominate the interior design flavour. Our Singapore edition adopts a softer tone with kitty bows and silhouettes adorning the furniture and decor, while paying more attention on creating a lush green and floral paradise experience. Pictured here with me is a special Kitty house drink called Cumbermade, a fizzy mocktail of cucumber syrup, lemonade and soda water. Yums! There’s even a designated area for cafe’s patrons to take photos with their life-sized double-bowed Hello Kitty! Well, I can’t miss this opportunity so it’s photo time! Say hello to the charming Rachel of Sixth Sense PR! To help us understand the concept of this new cafe better, Rachel gave us a quick rundown of some of their key features such as their inspiration, food offerings and seasonal Singapore-exclusive merchandise. You know the only gripe I have towards most themed cafes is the quality of the food. The food is usually pleasing to the eyes but not the palates. I was very excited when head honcho, Andrew Khoo, emphasised that the Hello Kitty Cafe takes pride in the quality of their food and will make sure that customers get a consistent and elevated dining experience. • The Beauty Fanatic Is Back!

Age fast, age slow – it’s up to you. Yay! I’m finally back in action and since we’re only two weeks away from ushering the Year of the Golden Rooster, I’ve officially entered panic mode! Much to my chagrin, the constant onslaught of stress as well as the unforgivable poor diet these few months have resulted in severe clogged pores and gulp … skin drought. According to famed endocrinologist, Hans Selye – “Every stress leaves an indelible scar, and the organism pays for its survival after a stressful situation by becoming a little older.” Eek! To make sure my skin gets the nourishment it desperately needs, I decided to swing by Body Wellness again to consult my beauty fairy godmothers. The experienced therapists at Body Wellness upon seeing my worried demeanour and perhaps also feeling my panic-stricken heart, promptly promised to try their hardest to outdo all my beauty sins and restore my healthy skin with a few proposed treatments. Whee! So did Body Wellness save the day? Read on to find out! So here I am back in the comfort of Body Wellness’ warm blankets. You probably can’t tell from the photo but my skin was badly congested and felt very rough and bumpy to the touch. My Body Wellness therapist suggested their star treatment, Cytol Cell Facial to curb my skin woes. If you recall, I actually tried this same treatment on my last visit. You can read more here . Their highly celebrated product, Innovelle Cyto Cell Botanical serum offers anti-oxidizing, anti-bacterial and anti-aging benefits. As this would be an extraction-heavy treatment, their wholesome ingredients (CoQ10 and Hyaluronic Acid) would help to relieve swelling and boost cell regeneration. And of course, we also have our favorite Hyaluronic Acid to provide ample moisture to the skin. As I’ve emphasized many times, the best facials not only take care of your face but also your neck and chest areas. Most of the time, our neck and shoulders are also exposed to the world so I very much appreciated how my therapist made sure she massaged the serum thoroughly on these areas too to make them look bright and perky. Since I also suffer from breakouts on my chest area from time to time, this would really help in regulating the sebum production and minimize annoying pimples on those areas too. After a soothing massage, my therapist applied a cooling mask and left me to relax in the room for 20 minutes. In case you’re wondering, the mask applied for each Cytol Cell Facial can be different. They’ll assess your skin condition and prescribe a mask that addresses all your skin requirements. My mask here tackles my dry skin issues and brightens my under-par complexion. Who doesn’t love a customised beauty treatment? 😛 My most favorite part of the entire treatment is actually their aromatherapy massage before the facial begins proper. It instantly lifts the stress and brings me into zen mode. That’s what a facial should be – calming and benefiting. 🙂 And now you can experience the goodness at a fraction of the price yourself! Special Body Wellness Promo Code Quote ‘ JulianaXBW ‘ to enjoy the Cytol Cell Facial Treatment at $72.76 w/gst .  Usual price: $380 This offer is limited to the 1st 50 customers. • The Wet Brush Pop Fold Review

“Stars got tangled in her hair whenever she played in the sky.” – Laini Taylor Aah.. That sounds nice but don’t forget the pesky conundrum here. Did someone say ‘tangled hair’? Eek! Well, don’t fret. Apparently, someone was listening and has wangled a solution to our tangled problem. 😛 Meet the first and only professional full size folding brush – Pop Fold by Wet Brush. I’ve been using this for a few months and I swear by its detangling properties. Its soft yet strong bristles glide through my hair easily and effortlessly, saving me from another battle with my tangled mess. I’ve demonstrated its amazing abilities in a short video. Scroll down for more! The Wet Brush Pop Fold Video Review To be honest, this product is not 100% invincible. I have a small gripe with its push-release button that pops out the bristles as it requires a pretty significant amount of strength and precision to release the brush. For those of you with long nails, you’ll probably sing the same tune as me when you use the product. Other than this, we all have to unanimously agree that this product is an absolute godsend for our unruly hair eh? Where To Get It? If you would also like to experience the miracle of tame wet hair, you can now purchase the Pop Fold at $19.90 (UP $21.90) at selected BHG, Metro, Guardian, Sasa and Watsons stores. This new year, let’s bid knotty hair goodbye, shall we?
