- Foundation Review: Clinique and Dior
Clinique’s Perfectly Real Radiant Skin Compact Makeup This product has been my all-time favourite since 5 years ago. Pros The foundation is pretty light weighted and gives my complexion a very natural finish after application. I have an oily complexion and the one look I fear most is the cakey face look. Because of the ultra-refined powders, it does not give my face that effect. So even though it is for very dry to combination skin, my oily complexion still loves it! 😀 Another plus point is that it has a built in SPF 29/PA+++. I thought this is pretty high as most foundations has only SPF 15 to 20. Cons I suppose the coverage for this foundation is medium as it camouflages my zits fairly well but not so for my freckles. They are still pretty visible after application. I don’t know whether this is a bad thing to most of you but it’s definitely a ‘thumbs down’ for me. Another downer: It’s not lasting. The foundation usually ‘vanishes’ from my face just after 5 hours and I’ll have to reapply again. But I found a way to prevent this problem and that is to apply more moisturizer and make up base. This way, my makeup will usually last for another 2 hours on top of the 5. Price I usually purchase this foundation at the Nuance Watson stores at the Changi Airport terminals when I’m on my way out of the country. It is priced at SGD 66. They don’t sell refills though. So I’ll usually buy the refills from Isetan at SGD 50. Recently, I discovered that Johor Bahru’s (JB) City Square’s Clinique Store only retails this at 110 MYR. According to XE.com, this means it is SGD 47. I guess it’s only worth the travel if you are buying in bulk or planning to purchase other items. Diorskin x4 Control Compact Foundation I first spotted this product a year ago at Changi Airport Terminals’ Nuance Watson. I was intrigued by its classy design. I’ve always been a huge fan of Dior’s lip glosses because of their great quality – richer colour intensity and lasting shine. So I was curious as to whether the quality of the foundations measure up to their lip glosses. Pros Its texture is pretty smooth, so applying it on my face is always easy. Usually after applying make up base, I’ll have to pat on foundation with my sponge before I can glide it across my face, otherwise it will create a cakey texture on my skin. Well, I don’t have to do that for this foundation. 😀 But I suspect it could also be the enclosed sponge that the compact foundation provides. The sponge feels different from other sponges that I’ve used. It’s heavier in weight and feels denser. (Maybe I should try applying the foundation with other sponges in future. Will keep you guys posted.) Besides having oily skin, my skin is also acne-prone. So I usually break out if I wear foundation for too long. This product does not cause me to break out after hours of wearing it so thumbs up to that! SPF 20 -PA++. Pretty decent. Cons As I mentioned previously, this is one thing I fear most. So booooooo to the foundation’s inability to absorb my facial oil after a mere 2 hours. 😛 Coverage-wise is also not that great. Pretty sheer coverage. I usually have to apply concealer on my face to hide imperfections. Price I think it was SGD 70++ at the Nuance Watson stores at Changi Airport terminals. Again , they don’t sell refills so I’ll usually get them at Robinsons at SGD 60. Comparing them both… All in all, I feel that the properties of both foundations are almost similar. If I have to choose, it’s probably the Clinique’s foundation. Dior’s foundation pales in comparison with Clinique’s for the following reasons, 1) Does not fulfill the basic needs of a foundation – Evening out bad skin tone 2) Pricier Before I sign off, I thought I’d give you pretty ladies some Foundation Makeup Tips For light coverage, apply foundation with a brush For fuller coverage, use an enclosed sponge Applying moisturizer and foundation is also the best time to massage your skin. This helps to stimulate the skin and improve blood circulation so that it looks less puffy and more radiant. Do it in the following motion. Besides foundations from these luxe brands, I also use foundations that don’t break my bank – Faceshop and Loreal. I’ll review them in my next foundation makeup post. Stay gorgeous! Love, Juliana Disclaimer: Do keep in mind that reviews are entirely subjective. It is normal to have differing views so please don’t hate me if I didn’t speak well of your favourite product. I definitely have no intentions of distorting the image of any brand. Well, to each his own, isn’t it? Peace! #Dior #Clinique #cosmeticsreview #foundationreview #beauty #foundation #cosmetics #foundationmakeup

I heard these SMART products are a huge hit among the Koreans as they hydrate and prevent premature ageing. They contain Centella Asiatica and Argan oil. In case you’re wondering, Centella Asiatica, which originated in Asia and Madagascar, is used to lighten acne scars and pigmentation, accelerate skin healing, erase fine lines, promote collagen synthesis and prevent premature aging. The MAKEUP Products (Available at HKCplaza.com ) Did I mention that I’ll be doing my fiancé’s makeup too? But I had a hard time figuring out his skin tone. He looks like he has both yellow and pink undertones. Well, with these many colors to choose from, I’ll never go wrong anymore. Time to play mix-and-match! Here are some products that I’ve already started using: LJH Cellabel M.C. Eyelash Queen The eyelash serum nourishes eyelashes, maintaining them, keeping them healthy, supple and hydrated. Every bride wants full and luscious eyelashes so I’ve been using them religiously to moisturise my eyelashes and to prevent them from falling out. Gulp! - Toast and Cheers: Our Wedding Logo
Since I was at a pretty impressionable age during the Disney Renaissance era, you can bet your bottom dollar that I’m a fairytale fanatic. But Mommy made a rather amusing blunder of taking me to see Disney movies as well as buying me storybooks by the Brothers Grimm, Charles Perrault and Hans Christian Andersen. Yup, imagine the horror for a 5-year old me. Not that this is a bad thing because, eventually, I grew to like the original folk tales more. But as a kid, it was not only confusing but slightly distressing. So I decided that the fairytale theme of my wedding should lean towards the Disney versions – with happily-ever-after endings. I’ve certainly struck gold because my fiancé is also a huge fan of fairytales and totally supports the idea of a Disney-esque wedding. Yay! So what’s next? We thought we could create a wedding emblem to represent our mutual passion, our imagination and of course our future. We’ve also come up with a name for our wedding, its called Finally Found. No surprise what it was that we’d finally found. 😛 Now click to see how all these elements add up on our new wedding logo! Tadah! Here’s one without a background for the invitation cards and photo booth backdrop. 🙂 It’s uh-mazing, isn’t it? But it wasn’t always so pretty. Here’s a sweet attempt by my fiancé. Well, A for effort but I told him not to give up his day job. 😛 In case you’re wondering, our final logo was created by our good friend and also wedding videographer/photographer, Yong Thye of http://www.simvideo.com.my . He’s also the Creative Director of Honeyz Cube and Honeyz Paint House . He’s such a talent! So we thought we had to invite Yong Thye to Paris with us for a Disney-themed photo and video shoot. And we almost cried when he said yes. Haha! We managed to produce some truly breathtaking captures, courtesy of Yong Thye of course. But before I publish them here, I thought I could first show you some of our wedding prep work. 😛 My Cinderella story begins with Sinderella ! - Bridal Beauty Log: Introducing My New Zit Buster Team – The LJH Tea Tree Range!
We all know that Tea Tree Oil is the best answer to achieving ‘acne freedom’ due to its unique disinfecting and calming properties. But the sad news is, it’s never been very effective for me. All it does is choke me with its sharp herbal scent. Okay, occasionally it treats a couple of pimples but they usually come back like uninvited guests – unannounced and bothersome. I was suffering the aftermath of a zit attack when my good friend, Ivan of HKCplaza.com handed me one of LJH’s best sellers – the Tea Tree range. Even though I greatly appreciated his kind gesture, I wasn’t sure if the product was going to work on me. But as the old cliche goes, ‘There’s no harm in trying’. And since I was heading overseas for my wedding shoot soon, I lugged the LJH skincare products along. Lo and behold! Like a miracle that only happens in fairytales, my skin cleared up and there was almost no zit left on my skin within a couple of days. I used ‘almost’ because there was still one tiny spot on my chin but that’s another story. 😛 So here I am, two weeks after using the products – happy and pretty much spot-free! Click for a full account of my Tea Tree skincare journey! Meet the LJH Tea Tree Trio! In case you’re wondering, the numbers on the labels signify the percentage of tea tree extract content in each formulation. For example, Tea Tree 90 Essence is made up of 90% tea tree oil. These days my skin care regimen begins with the LJH Tea Tree 30 Cleansing Foam that gently lifts the grime and dirt off my face. As the label states, the cleansing foam is made up of 30% natural tea tree extract which helps it fight acne problems while keeping your face clean and refreshed. Its pH5.5 acidity level is perfect for maintaining healthy skin. Besides tea tree extract, the cleansing foam also contains witch hazel, a natural astringent which can help with acne control by reducing inflammation and decreasing oil, as well as Hippophae rhamnoides extract that offers 800 times more vitamins than an apple. The formulation also includes Centella asiatica that promotes collagen synthesis, promoting skin’s natural regeneration. And the best thing of all? It does not have Paraben, Mineral Oil, Artifiial Coloring, Benzophenone, Fragrance, Animal Material and Triethanolamine in its ingredient list. Ingredients: Melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) extract, hamamelis virginiana (witch hazel) extract, centella asiatica extract, adansonia digitata leaf extract, morus alba root extract, hippophae rhamnoides extract. More info of the cleansing foam here . My wholesome skincare regimen continues with LJH’s Tea Tree 90 Essence . The Tea Tree essence has one of the lightest consistencies – almost like water. It glides on very easily and dissipates very quickly into the skin, leaving no sticky residue. As I’ve mentioned earlier, I’ve never been a huge fan of tea tree oil’s pungent aroma so I was glad that the essence is fragrance-free. Now I can go out without smelling like a Narrow-leaved Tea-tree! It’s ingredients are similar to that of the Tea Tree Cleansing Foam. The stark difference between their ingredients list is the tea tree extract content. Tea Tree extract makes up a whopping 90% of its content so it is an effective tool to get rid of zits. I usually use this after cleansing and applying toner so that my skin can absorb it fully. Ingredients: Tea tree extract (90%), trehalose, vitamin tree, centella asiatica. More info of the essence here . The great thing about this LJH Tea Tree line is that they treat your zits without stripping your skin of its natural oils, unlike many acne treatments which may be too drying. For extra moisturization, you could also apply the LJH Tea Tree 80 Cream that performs dual functions – clear up blemishes and hydrate the skin. I took a whiff of the jar and was surprised that the tea tree fragrance is slightly more prominent in this cream but it is not unbearable with a the usual strong medicinal scent. In fact, it smells light and soothing. The texture may look thick in the picture but trust me, looks are deceiving. I smoothed it over my skin and within seconds, the cream was absorbed fully without a greasy feeling. On top of tea tree oil and centella asiatica, it also contains Aquaregul-K for 96 hours of moisture and glow. It retains water in the skin and acts as an antioxidant to protect your skin from the damaging effects of the sun. Ingredients: Melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) extract, glycerin, centella asiatica extract, hippophae rhamnoides extract, hamamelis virginiana (witch hazel) extract, thymus vulgaris (thyme) flower/leaf extract. More info of the cream here . These days, the humid weather and work stress still give me occasional pimples but on the whole, I think my face has cleared up quite a bit. I never knew topical creams could render such excellent results. I wish the range could include an exfoliating scrub too. I would really love to slough those dead skin cells off without causing a pimple outbreak. Meanwhile, 5 Honeyz crowns for its effectiveness and positive skin care outcomes! 😀 As mentioned, I brought it along with me to Paris for my photoshoot. I used it everyday to maintain a clear complexion. Hmm.. it blends in pretty well with the City of Romance eh? Do you know that the creation of the LJH Tea Tree 90 Essence stemmed from the popularity and effectiveness of their LJH Doctor’s Care Facial Mask Sheet TeaTree? Yup. After many customers with sensitive skin saw vast improvements in their skin condition after using the mask, LJH decided to create a slightly different version of the mask for everyday use. Subsequently, the LJH Tea Tree 90 essence was born. I brought the mask along with me to complement my tea tree skincare regime too. The humidity in airline cabins can get pretty low causing dry and flaky skin so my skin tends to break out after a long-haul flight. Well, this time was an exception because I used the mask on the plane too! 😛 The LJH Tea Tree range is now available on the Cube Store . Psst! We’re also having a GSS discount on the Cube Store for your favorite products. If you haven’t visited the store, don’t wait! Stocks are very limited! Meanwhile, for first dibs on all the newest LJH products, like HKCplaza.com ‘s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/HKCplaza to receive all their latest info! Thanks for reading and au revoir! - Bridal Beauty Log: My DIY Wedding Looks
A timeless, sleek bridal look need not come at a hefty price or with an exorbitant amount of makeup. Oh wait, if you’re expecting this to be another beauty tutorial to show you how I added the bit of oomph to the eyes or created the luscious cascading waves, you’re not quite right. As you already know, I decided to defy convention and DIY my own wedding looks for my photo shoot last month. Honestly, it was intimidating for a makeup novice like me but I realised later that all I needed was some good makeup tools, great sartorial choices and tons of practice. I guess the rule of thumb is to keep the embellishments to a minimum and pick dresses that are not only imbued with panache but that also reflect your taste. So I thought before I demonstrate how I did my makeup, I should first show you the different looks I’ve come up with for the shoot. Bonus! Also gonna showcase one of the photos from my wedding shoot. 😛 [df_divider el_width=”100″ style=”solid” accent_color=”#EEEEEE” border_t_width=”2px” padding=”20px 0″ position=”align_center” el_class=””] My bare naked face. Watch me transform! My jet-lagged eyes were instantly brightened after a few swipes of some gorgeous purple and gold hues from Esyoro Makeup . This is the eye shadow look that I’ll be showing you how to do in a later post. I was going for a Princess Belle-inspired look, so I curled and half tied my hair. Then added a bejewelled hair band to up the Disney princess factor. Haha! Psst! I got this gorgeous head piece from 65Daigou.com . I did not wanna let my makeup overwhelm my features, so I kept the makeup simple with light pink cheeks and a stained pout. I channelled my inner Belle in this flattering toga dress with drape details from Loov Production . Since I wanted to create my own rendition of Belle, I discarded the traditional off-shoulder ball gown design but of course kept the iconic yellow tone because you know… it is legendary. 😛 Giving the Disney Princess look another go with a wreath headband and beautiful prim lace gown (also from Loov Production.) Loov offers some of the most affordable and beautiful dresses I’ve ever seen. In case you’re wondering, I’m not sponsored by them but I’m truly in awe of their quality and impeccable service. Check out their collection here . Please ignore the madhouse behind me. Seriously, who has time to tidy the room when you’re dressing up for the biggest photoshoot of your life? 😛 Budget-savvy bridal tip! This was supposed to be my Snow White dress. But I decided to recycle it for my Sleeping Beauty themed shoot and inject some royal edge into it by swapping the floral band for a sparkly tiara and adding a long flowing veil. Who says you can’t create different looks with the same dress? It saves money and also space in your suitcase! My Cinderella look! We all know that Cinderella is always covered in cinders from the fire and since I was also going to film a Cinderella-themed wedding video too, I chose this ash grey dress from Love Potion to represent Cinderella’s unfortunate plight. I wore my hair in a pony tail and wrapped the elastic loosely with a section of my hair. Lastly, traded the flares for this figure-hugging dress from Love Potion . It is actually my most favorite look of the lot – Old Hollywood Glam. This has nothing to do with Disney. In fact, it was inspired by James Bond. Why 007? Because my lovely fiancé invited me to a James Bond themed cocktail party a year ago, under the pretense that it was his friend’s soiree. Then he proposed in the presence of our family and friends. Awww… sniff. Full story here . So we decided to pay homage to that memorable evening and put our own spin on the cool James Bond style for our wedding shoot. Haha! - The Enchanted Rose Episode: Our Beauty And The Beast Wedding Photos
Beast: I want to do something for her… but what? Cogsworth: Well, there’s the usual things: flowers… chocolates… promises you don’t intend to keep… Haha! I’m glad I got my flowers, chocolates, promises that were sealed in our wedding vows (phew!) as well as some very stunning Disney inspired wedding photos! Speaking of Disney, I think the House of Mickey is totally slaying it this year with the release of the new Cinderella movie, Frozen Fever (an animated short sequel to Frozen) and now, a new touring theatrical production of Beauty and the Beast! I’ve heard so much about its award-wining score, costumes and talented cast, that I was over the moon when they decided to pay a call to this part of the world too. Woo hoo! You can bet your bottom dollar that I snapped up the best seats in the house as soon as the tickets were available on Sistic. Haha! Before I marvel at the excellence of the musical, let’s revel in the magic of the Enchanted Rose with the next instalment in my Toast and Cheers series of wedding photos, our very own homage to the magic of Beauty And The Beast, I present to you ‘La Belle et Le Beau’. Enjoy! [df_divider el_width=”100″ style=”solid” accent_color=”#EEEEEE” border_t_width=”2px” padding=”20px 0″ position=”align_center” el_class=””] We engaged two photographers with completely different styles for our Beauty and the Beast pre-wedding photoshoot. This next collection of photos was taken by Ada and Aki of A Square Visual Studio . They feature a new form of photography known as ‘Indie Pop’ (aka 小清新) which is a blend of dreamy and quaint photography styles. This new form of photography was incarnated by the the ‘Indie Pop’ culture of the the UK music industry in the 1980s. It was popular for chronicling the little things in one’s life through refreshing, gentle and positive music themes. Later, this interesting sub-culture expanded its influence to the movie and photography industry. A few photography houses in the region have jumped on the bandwagon and adopted this new style of photography and one of them is A Square Visual Studio. And here’s their take on our Enchanted Rose story. Once upon a time, in a faraway land… We took up their PW01 package that includes makeup, 25 edited photos, a gorgeous hardbound album and a huge photo canvas. I sincerely believe there is no other video company out there that would have accommodated all my zany requests in the way Sim Video has. Whether it was out in Paris taking photos in the wind and rain, or filming a Disney style epic, Sim Video has time and time again surpassed all my wildest expectations. They’ve captured and immortalized moments that I will always treasure, beautiful memories of the best day of my life, moments that I can share with my family, friends and even my children next time. And here’s his rendition of the perfect Beauty and the Beast fairytale. 🙂 Perhaps there’s something there that wasn’t there before… And this was where our inspiration came from. 🙂 Disney based their version of the Beauty and the Beast story in Loire Valley, France. So I guess it comes as no surprise that we chose France as the main set up of our fairytale wedding. However, instead of going to the very scenic Loire Valley, we decided to give our story a contemporary and urban twist by making the City of Lights, Paris the backdrop of our story instead. The end result was still astonishing so we didn’t regret forgoing the ancient castles and historic towns for the modern majestic Louvre Pyramid and Eiffel Tower. The idea of being in France already gave our wedding story a nice La Belle et la Bête overtone. And of course, all these could have gone to waste without a good visualiser. With Yong Thye’s good eye for composition, we managed to shoot a full wedding video and achieve our fairytale pictorial goals in four days! Thank you YT and Sim Video for the breathtaking photos! - Pan Pacific Singapore Reigns Supreme! Trust Me, Even TripAdvisor Will Agree!
B and I stayed at the Pan Pacific Singapore Hotel a few years ago, albeit not at the same time, we both retained similar pleasant memories of the charming hotel. However, the good experience was entirely overwritten two months ago when we visited the refurbished luxury hotel for their Bed, Brunch and Bliss one-night staycation. This time, we got ‘more than what we asked for’. 😛 I would say, the 5-star treatment has now been elevated to a whole new level with cosy suites that offer magnificent panoramic views of the city and complimentary champagne brunches which are simply – an epitome of stylish living and grandeur. We felt like royalty as we indulged in our idyllic getaway. Within 48 hours, the pre-wedding jitters were lifted away and the brunch, I don’t even know where to start. If you’re looking for a resplendent romantic respite that pampers you as well as your belly AND that simply screams ‘Fabulousa!’, then you have to read on! And this was where it all started. Checking in was a breeze. We were warmly received by Pan Pacfic’s associates upon arriving the hotel lobby. Before we even introduced ourselves, they addressed B and I by our names! That certainly made us feel really welcome. Then we headed to the Pacific Club for our check in but was promptly told that their Pan Pac associates had already conducted an in-room check in on our behalf. Whoa???!! Well, less time for admin procedures means more time for play! Woo hoo! Before we head to our room, we were given a private tour of the hotel premises. The first thing we noticed? These cute floating timbre pods at the lobby of course! They weren’t there during my last stay at the hotel in 2009. Evidently, the hotel underwent an extensive furbishment. We asked for more details and was told that the hotel closed for three months for a complete makeover in 2012 and today, the lobby features Asia’s LONGEST bar and we’re talking about a whopping 44 metres! As well as these adorable pods that are set over water to give their guests a comfy private space while they enjoy their drinks and music. I was also very glad to see that they retained their iconic 35-storey atrium which features these glass elevators that oversee the lobby. And now it’s time to go up, up and away! And here I am on the 34th floor – all ready to check into my room of wonders. But first, let’s check the view. Hmm… not bad, not bad. Okay. Enough messing around. Say hello to Pan Pacific Singapore’s Harbour Suite. 🙂 OPEN SESAME! And it leads to this. 🙂 Just what every vain girl needs – a mirror with built in lights! “Oh Juliana, what big mirrors you’ve got!” and the girl replies “All the better to check for blackheads, apply my mascara, and remove accidental lipstick stains with, my dear!” #justbeingsilly First there was the #selfie, then the #footsie. Now I’m gonna start my own trend, the #tubsie! Bath lovers will cry if they see this. Imagine soaking in this luxurious and smooth designer concrete tub filled with a mass of frothy bubbles. Aaah… It’s so big I think it would be able to fit three of me comfortably. Here’s a wide shot of the bathroom. Check out the amenities! Yay! Products from the UK’s leading beauty brand, Elemis ! Now I can recreate the luxurious spa experience in the comfort of my own room! Besides the usual shower products, hand cream and nail kits, the hotel also provided this Elemis Cooling Mint Mist spray that’s absolutely refreshing for the skin. It’s ideal for jetsetters for a quick pick-me-up after a long flight. Think of it as Febreeze for your face! Tiger Balm ointment spotted! Who would have expected to see this??? In case you’re wondering what you can do with it… It is perfect for soothing bloatedness, headaches, muscle strains or any other discomfort you may have! #TrustAuntJules The bathroom never ends. Here’s the other side that features the toilet and shower. Yay! More Elemis products in the shower room. 😀 I love how elegant, contemporary and seamless the entire bathroom looks – from the sleek marble tiles to the neutral interior. Great design pointers for our new home, B! Next up – the walk-in wardrobe! Yup! You read me right! Every suite is equipped with this spacious walk-in closet that also comes with a full-length mirror, safe, comfy cushioned slippers, ironing board and sleeping robes. And now we walk through the door way again to enter… … the living room! Yup, I’ve a living room too. 😛 The living room is a dream world on its own. There’s a large sofa, smart TV, nice selection of magazines and even a Nespresso coffee machine! Psst! That is an ergonomic Herman Miller desk chair by the way. Office luxury at it’s finest. 🙂 This personalized message was displayed on the screen when we came in. Stuff that was on my work desk. A very futuristic thumb drive with everything we need to know about our Bed, Brunch and Bliss one-night staycation (and that includes the perks)! Another personalized note by the Pan Pac folks. 🙂 As you can see, we were also granted access to the Pacific Club that is situated at the crown of the hotel on level 38. It offers stunning 360-degree views of Marina Bay, the South China Sea and the city skyline. Designed to blend the business and leisure needs of guests, the Pacific Club experience includes round-the- clock access, privileges such as refreshments and cocktails, and personalised guest services. Regrettably, we didn’t visit the club at all (except during the private tour) as we were too busy taking photos and enjoying the other facilities of the hotel. Well, maybe next time. 🙂 Going back to the room… With just one click, I can request for anything in the world! Okay, we kinda did. We requested for a DVD player, room service, more Evian water and we received them in a jiffy. I also noticed this device on the table. Can you guess what it is for? Tadah! It’s a table lamp! Simply swipe the strip shown above to adjust the brightness. Very cool eh? Wowee! In-room treats by their very own Pacific Marketplace. These cookies are da bomb! B and I broke our no-carb diet for these bad boys! Haha! Yup. And we gobbled them up within minutes. Fresh juicilicious fruits anyone? Can’t forget the mini bar! Everything is FOC except the alcoholic beverages. No alcohol? No problem! Those complimentary juices and these choco babies are enough to satisfy any beverage needs. 😛 Nothing beats a king-sized bed with plush linens and pillows, in front of a 37” Smart television that synchronises wirelessly to your mobile devices! And that view behind me… Breathtaking, eh? Did I mention that the staycay package provides more than just a room? It also offers a gaping 30% saving for dinner at hotel-operated restaurants and bars but note that advance reservations are required at Atrium, Pacific Marketplace, Edge, Hai Tien Lo and Keyaki. Bobby and I celebrated our first and last Valentine’s Day at the Keyaki so we intuitively made reservations at Keyaki for a romantic pre-wedding dinner date as well as to enjoy the 30% discount. Hehe. You have to see the food! The sashimi was fresh, meat was succulent and the presentation – unmatched. No wonder they’ve stayed on top for so many years. This wasn’t in the menu that day but we remember having it during our last visit and falling head over heels with it. And guess what? The chef kindly offered to whip up this dish again for our dining delight! In case you’re wondering, it’s grilled asparagus enveloped in a delectable slice of Wagyu beef. Mmm… We’re done with our very indulging dinner! #utterlysatisfied And now it’s back to the hotel for a relaxing hot bath. And here comes the biggest horror story of my stay – I forgot to bring my Lush bath bombs. Teng teng teng! I bought them, packed them together but totally didn’t remember to lug them along when I left my house. Urgh! But ‘life will always find a way’ – when I was about to prepare my hot bath, guess what I discovered??? Yup! Bath salts, courtesy of Pan Pacific! Not a bad substitute. 😛 Rise and shine! Awww… I wish I can wake up to this spectacular scenery every day. After taking the above photo, we headed straight back to Keyaki for more photos with their Tanuki statue and zen decor. It was too dark to capture the serenity and beauty of the garden so we decided to do it when it’s bright and sunny. Morning kiss! Muuuuaaah! :* About time for brunch! The privileges of the Bed, Brunch and Bliss package are endless I tell you! We were also treated to a four-hour Sunday Champagne Brunch (usual price $158 per adult) for two at Edge, the hotel’s live theatre restaurant located on level 3 of the hotel as part of our staycay perks. You’ll be astonished to know that the Champagne Brunch offers an extensive sumptous selection seafood, Japanese omi wagyu beef and Pan Pacific sausages grilled a la minute, prime rib and suckling pig on the carvery, truffle eggs, freshly- made duck confit ravioli, a two-metre cheeseboard and over 20 dessert choices, complemented with Veuve Clicquot Champagne which is apparently, my most favorite champagne in the world! Seeing this just makes my day! Whee! When we arrived, we were immediately led to our table which was already reserved by Pan Pac and… it has my name on it! 😀 Besides the pre-prepped luxurious fare at the different buffet sections, you can also order freshly made food from the stations with these wooden sticks. Here’s what we got! My dear foodies, below is what you need to know about the 4-Hour Champagne Brunch. Highlights of the brunch: – Crustacean on Ice: Boston lobster, 3 types of French and Canadian Oysters – ‘Live’ Grill: Wagyu Beef and signature Pan Pacific Sausages grilled upon request – Carvery: Prime Rib, Waygu Beef, Suckling Pig – Egg Station: Poached Egg with Truffle Coulis – Pasta made a la minute: Duck Confit Ravioli – Feast-On-Wheels: Signature seafood and meats items such as Home Cured Salmon Gravlax and Crispy Kurobuta Pork Belly served at guests’ tables – Two-metre Cheeseboard: 30 varieties of artisanal Cheese and Raclette a la minute – Dessert Station: An elaborate presentation of 20 desserts including Candy Crush Sponge Cake, Gluten-Free Red Velvet Cake and Chocolate Brownie For those with a sweet tooth, you’re gonna drool at these next few photos! And how can you not instagram it??? Haha! #foodoftheday He’s had four glasses in an hour and now he’s thinking of getting another one. Sheesh! And you know what? The waiter at the bar noticed his pondering expression and decided to serve him another glass even though we didn’t ask for it! Oh well. Here you go B. Cheers! It was 4pm and the brunch had ended. And in case you’re wondering, we haven’t checked out. Yup another staycation perk – late check out at 5pm. Just how service-oriented can Pan Pac get??? Wait till you hear this next feature and you’ll know. We explored their pool. Well, it doesn’t look anything out of the ordinary right? Wrong! The outdoor pool is equipped with underwater speakers! Haha! Yup. It’s no longer restricted to synchronised swimmers, now you can also listen to awesome tunes while you take a dip in the pool. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, I came back to my room and found this on the table. Yay! Now check out will only take seconds! Since the hotel expected a high volume of departures on Sundays, they decided to offer Express Check Out services for their guests. All we have to do is to view and verify our room bill on our TV and complete the form attached. Then return it at the Check-Out box at level 1. When I arrived at the lobby, one of the Pan Pac associates immediately approached me and asked if we were checking out. When he confirmed that I was, he simply took the form from me and told me he’ll check out on my behalf. I wasn’t even near the check out box! In case you’re wondering, the associate didn’t know I’m a blogger invited by the hotel so this is not a biased view, okay? The level of service in this hotel is simply mind-blowing. How can everyone in the hotel be so consistent in delivering impeccable service??? I’m certainly giving Pan Pacific Singapore 5 Honeyz crowns! The interior and buffet spread are world class and the good service was the icing on an already amazing cake. B and I swear that we’ll return very very soon. Maybe even this week! My only gripe is probably the lack of a 3 pin plug socket near a mirror so I can style my hair with my hair tools. But of course, this is a small oversight compared to the personalised attention and great hospitality Pan Pac has given us so far. Never have we seen a hotel this committed to providing good service. Kudos Pan Pac! We’ll definitely be recommending our friends and family to your hotel! Here’s a summary of what the Bed, Brunch and Bliss package entails: – A one-night stay for two guests in a Harbour Studio room – Sunday Champagne Brunch for two at Edge – Late check-out at 5:00pm on Sunday – 30% savings for dinner at hotel-operated restaurants and bars (Advance reservations required at Atrium, Pacific Marketplace, Edge, Hai Tien Lo and Keyaki) – Internet access – One parking coupon Bed, Brunch and Bliss is priced from SGD525 and only available on Saturdays till 2015. Engaged couples who are interested in holding their wedding at Pan Pac rejoice! Wedding at Pan Pacific Singapore Hotel The considerate folks at Black Box have done it again. Any lovebirds taking the big step will know how stressful wedding day can be. A million people to please, everyone’s pulling you left, right and center, the organized chaos can be dizzying. Things usually do fall into place and most people can look back and laugh but when you’re in the midst of the madness it can be pretty stressful. Thankfully anyone holding their wedding at the Pan Pacific Hotel Singapore will get a head start with these his and hers wedding survival Black Boxes – full to the brim with essential goodies. The brides box contains 15 fabulous items including the Klarity LasertoxTM V-Line Slim Up Mask, Klarity Lasertox CC Miracle White Lotion, Nivea Refreshing Facial Cleansing Wipes and my favourites, the Hada Labo SHA Hydrating Lotion and Hada Labo SHA Hydrating Milk as well as the Bioderma Sensibio H20 makeup remover, strong yet suitable for even sensitive skin. It really is a great pre-prepared box, I only wish brides-to-be could get their hands on these beauty boxes earlier as it’s always risky business for an imminent bride to use a product on wedding day that they haven’t used before. Some of these products would no doubt do wonders for your complexion leading up to the big day. But this is only one half of the equation, what did the hubby think of his Black Box? “WOOHOOOOOOO!!!! Hawt diggitty dawg! It’s Bobby here and I can say I was pretty stoked with the grooms’ edition of the Black Box. I’m still clueless about all this skin care stuff, so to have products already picked out for me to use was pretty great. The box contained 7 products of which my faves were the L’Oréal Paris Men Expertise Charcoal Black Scrub, Men Expert Hydra Energetic X-Treme Moisturizer and Nivea Men Silver Protect Deodorant Roll On. Hey, because the groom is worth it too!” – Bobby Yet another small yet thoughtful reason for you to check out Pan Pac’s wedding packages. - Summer Lovin’ In The UK
My recent vacation once again proved that it’s a real super power to look totally on fleek when you’re on the go. Seriously, fashion goals can only be achieved if you’re lugging a huge suitcase and sleeping five hours a day – because you’re spending the rest of your time picking out the next outfit, doing your makeup, styling your hair and travelling. Sheesh, just how do these fashion bloggers come up with a cornucopia of stylish ensembles every time they’re on holiday? To top it off, the summer weather I experienced in the UK this time was also pretty atypical. Think low temperatures and extremely cold winds. Oh wait – is that normal UK weather? This meant that I needed to prepare more covered up clothes like… pants. Well, I’m never a fan of long garments as they usually bring attention to my not-so-flattering-looking thighs. Pfft! Thank heavens that fashion labels are now coming up with more high waisted bottoms that are perfect for creating the ‘legs for days’ illusion. Haha! So despite the inherent challenges of looking fashion-forward on vacation, I managed to come up with a few looks that I was absolutely happy with. Woo hoo! Let’s rock and roll! Scroll down for my archive of vacay looks!
