Ever since I started blogging about beauty, I’ve become obsessed with skincare and cosmetics products. As such I’m constantly scouting for new products to try and effective beauty products to showcase on this website. Despite the vast choices, I’ve developed strong attachments to a selected few – the few that have the power to make me want to purchase them again and again. If you have been reading my blog, you’ll know that I have an oily, acne-prone and sensitive complexion. This is like the worst combination in the world and it has made my beauty routine slightly more complicated. I’ll always have to be very mindful of what I put on my face – they can’t be too drying (cause skin sensitivity) or too oily (clog pores). Sounds like a dilemma eh? So after all the trials and tribulation of seeking for better skin, I’ve finally found a handful of products that can combat my complexion conundrum and which I absolutely can’t live without for now. Here are my top picks. Rachel K ‘See the Difference’ Stem Cell Purifying Cleanser Featured in Rachel K ‘See the Difference’ Launch Party Unlike most cleansers, the Rachel K Cell Purifying Cleanser does not have foaming chemicals so it does not leave my skin feeling dry and tight. In fact, it leaves a healthy sheen and radiance on my face after washing! Shiseido AQUALABEL White Up Lotion RR I discovered this amazing product in Japan earlier this year and I’ve been a fan ever since. Besides tightening and refining my huge pores, it also acts as a moisturizer and whitening lotion. My skin feels fresh and hydrated for hours after use. Eucerin DermoPURIFYER Active Night Care Featured in Honeyz Beauty Review: Eucerin To control excessive sebum secretions, I use this product 5 minutes after I apply the Shiseido AQUALABEL White Up Lotion RR every evening before I go to bed. It keeps my pimples at bay without over-drying the skin. Mary Chia Age-Defying Hydrating Lotion Featured in Beauty Treats from Mary Chia If you are straddling the worlds of zits and aging and on the quest for clear skin like me, you would have noticed that many anti-aging products cause zits, especially for oily skin due to their rich ingredients. This hydrating lotion by Mary Chia curbs this nasty problem by tightening and firming my skin without causing an ugly acne breakout. Etude House Total Age Repair Wrinkle Reduce Restoring Cream Featured in Anti-Aging Tutorial: How to Combat Wrinkles? The skin on our neck is pretty thin and it tends to lose elasticity sooner than our faces. So I use a stronger anti-aging cream on my neck. I’ve been using this product from Etude House for a year and I love its effectiveness. The sales assistants at Etude House told me that this product is very popular and it is always sold out within days after restocking. The Face Shop Raspberry Slim and Lift Sleeping Mask Besides preventing wrinkles, another important step in your anti-aging routine is to prevent your skin from sagging too early. I use this product to smoothen my skin texture and to give it an instant ‘face lift’. Leaders InSolution Masks Featured in Beauty Review – Leaders InSolution There is no question that this is a must-have in every girl’s beauty regimen now. The masks hydrate and firm skin without causing a zit attack albeit its rich and nourishing ingredients. These days, I use it twice a week to prevent saggy skin and to energize my dull looking skin. Leaders InSolution Black Head Clinic Sheet and Pore Tightening Serum Featured in Beauty Review – Leaders InSolution This product was featured in my Honeyz Golden List so I guess it is no surprise that it also appears in my list of top picks. Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Moisturizing Eye Cream Featured in Beauty Review: Super Hyaluronic Moisturizing Eye Cream and SHA Hydrating Lotion with new Nano Formula Besides upkeeping healthy facial skin, you should also not neglect the skin around your eyes. I prevent dark circles and puffiness by applying the Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Moisturizing Eye Cream before makeup and before I go to bed. Nip and Fab Eye Fix Recently I discovered a great 2-in-1 product that I believe is going to take the beauty world by storm. It is not released to the market yet but I got hold of one during the Nip and Face product launch. It is the Nip and Fab Eye Fix and it hydrates the eyes while concealing the imperfections. The results are phenomenal I tell you. You can use it before applying your eye makeup or before you go to sleep. Psst! Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing UV Milk Featured in Beauty Review: Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing UV Milk It is important to protect our skin against the sun to prevent freckles and premature aging. However, sunscreens are well-known to be the ultimate “pore cloggers” so it is important to find one that is light and with high SPF. The UV milk is perfect in that it is lightweight and it functions well as a sunscreen as well as a make up base. I’ve been a loyal fan of this product since I started using it months ago. DHC Deep Cleansing Oil Featured in Honeyz Golden List Do remember to remove your sunscreen every night as it will prevent your skincare products from being absorbed properly. To make sure that my sunscreen is thoroughly removed, I use a oil-based makeup remover to rinse it off. My most favorite is the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil as it is gentle on my skin and it removes my stubborn makeup quickly and efficiently. Victoria’s Secret Pure Seduction Hand And Body Cream Don’t forget your body! Having healthy and glowing skin on your body is just as important. So I’ll usually moisturize it with Victoria’s Secret’s Pure Seduction Hand And Body Cream. It not only softens my dry and rough areas, it also leaves my skin sensually scented. I also love the fact that the scented lotion is sensitive-skin friendly too. Fruit Of The Earth Aloe Vera Gel When all else fails, I go back to the basics with my Fruit Of The Earth Aloe Vera Gel. The gel treats almost everything – from dry skin to sunburns to abrasions. Its emollient properties makes it a great moisturizer and body lotion too. The best part is – it is extremely affordable and easily available in local drugstores! Well, we’ve come to the end of the list. I hope the above tips and reviews were useful for you. The recent visit by the esteemed British royals Prince William and Kate Middleton sparked a new wave of British culture and couture in Singapore. And just when we thought our whirlwind romance with the English is over… We are about to witness another British invasion by our young and glamorous GlamoGirl ! We camwhored in GlamoGirl’s classy and pretty bathroom. Her bathroom was 60s inspired with classy ornaments that reminded me of Audrey Hepburn’s elegant and timeless style in the movie ‘ Breakfast at Tiffany’s’. Goodbye static banner and hello interactive Honeyz Billboard! Hola Honeyz Belles! Since my last revamp in July last year, I haven’t done anything drastic to my blog design. However, as my blog grew in content and readership, I’ve also received numerous requests to place ads on my website. This has spurred me to tweak my blog design to accommodate these requests. Recently, I’ve also redesigned my Honeyz logo and changed it from this… … to this. I always appreciate beauty brands that go the extra mile to ensure the freshness of their products. Of course, the second thing that caught my attention was the aromatic rose fragrance. Take a deep whiff and you’ll feel instantly calm and relaxed too. Since the toner does not contain alcohol, it does not leave a squeaky clean effect on the skin. In fact, the product feels a little more viscous than normal causing the skin to feel slightly tacky to the touch during the first few minutes of application. Toners are meant to balance your skin’s pH levels and act as an astringent to minimise the appearance of your pores. Honestly, I don’t have have sufficient info to prove that the ingredients in this product will balance your pH levels. In fact, skin should be able to balance itself out so that’s not an issue. Also, since the product does not contain alcohol, it’s is definitely not acting as an astringent here. However, I like that the toner contains a beneficial array of skin-reparative and moisturizing ingredients such as glycerin, sodium hyaluronate and even snail secretion filtrates. So if you’re looking to amp up the moisturising factor of your skincare regimen, this is still a great product to add to your beauty stash. 3.5 Honeyz crowns! Even though the essence is essentially a more watered-down serum, it still feels pretty concentrated and rich. My skin felt greasy immediately after application. However, the feeling lasted only seconds as the greasiness was quickly replaced by a smooth finish after a few gentle rubs. Just a few drops each time and my skin stays hydrated all day. I also use this on my neck to reduce the tight feeling on my skin after showers. 4 Honeyz crowns! Imagine my confusion when I saw the actual toner in the packaging. So what is this? After reading the label, I realised it’s simply a moisturiser. (Oh yeah! Long before the Japanese referred their toners as lotions, lotions were actually moisturisers.) The texture of the lotion is significantly thicker. Despite its higher viscosity, the product was absorbed by my skin pretty quickly, leaving behind a nice smooth sheen. Long lasting hydrating properties should be non-negotiable in a lotion and since the product delivered just that, I give it a huge thumbs up! My only gripe is the absence of a pump feature to dispense the product. This is what happens when I try to draw the lotion from the tiny opening of the bottle everytime. Besides the lack of pumping mechanism, the lotion works pretty well for me. Here’s a quick comparison of my face before and after using the Real Rose products. Beautiful hair, impeccable makeup and heavenly ballgowns are indisputably hallmarks of a Disney princess! Hmm… Seems like I got everything covered for the wedding. *happy dance* Oh wait? I think I forgot something. Aww… I sure did. Every Disney princess also has a lovely set of pearly white teeth to mesmerise their Prince Charming. If you’re a fellow city-dweller, you probably would find this all too familiar in the mornings – the alarm clock screaming in the middle of your sweetest dreams resulting in you waking up in shock and jumping out of bed to get ready while still feeling rather asleep. Come on! Who brushes their teeth with their eyes closed too? Then to fight off that doziness, you gulp down a soothing fragrant cup of coffee – EVERY weekday morning. And the ramification of that? Not only do you feel more alert, you’re also one step closer to looking like the Wicked Witch of the West instead. Gulp! So to make sure my bridal beauty routine did not go down in flames, I decided to seek the help of my dental Godmother,  Theresa Beauty , to help with the teeth discolouration problem. And guess what? In the space of just a few weeks, the change was remarkable! Hubby and I felt our gnashers could even be worthy of Colgate’s next toothpaste ad. Haha! Psst! Whoopee! Every treatment is preceded by a consultation session to evaluate the current state of your teeth and also to explain the procedures of the treatment. The Consultation Room Our tooth shade was measured based on this teeth color chart. According to Sandra, besides food and drinks that are high in tannins, aging can also cause teeth to yellow. As we age, the outer layer of enamel on your teeth gets thinner due to wear and tear which eventually unveils the natural yellow colour of dentin. And of course, other factors that affect the color of our teeth includes smoking, genetics as well as poor dental hygiene. Now, let’s assess our dental situation. 😛 My teeth was a Shade 14 before the treatment. While B’s at Shade 30 due to his uncontrollable love for Coke Zero. Tsk tsk! For best results, we were told we need to ‘start with a clean slate’. So we were given these cleaning wipes to remove all the gunk on the surface of our teeth. We were also given these cool safety glasses to protect our eyes from the light beams of the LED treatment later. Guess our new sci-fi hero! 😛 Cyclops of X- Men 😛 Thereafter, we were introduced to these tools to kick off our treatments of the day. 🙂 Sandra squirted the whitening gel, that was specially formulated by Theresa Beauty, on the mouthpiece before placing them in our mouths. And we went from looking like superheroes to the Titans from Attack on Titan. Haha! To be honest, I wasn’t the most comfortable due to a painful teeth whitening experience at another beauty salon several years back that left me wary of harsh chemical whitening treatments. Sandra assured me that the treatment would not trigger the same side effects I experienced before as Theresa Beauty’s whitening gel does not contain harsh ingredients such as hydrogen peroxide. In fact, its imbued with natural ingredients such as sodium bicarbonate (aka baking soda) which is also its key whitening agent. Besides removing stains, the gel can also neutralize and counteract bacterial acids in the mouth too. Yay! However, no man is an island. The gel needs to work in tandem with Theresa Beauty’s latest Light-Emitting Diode (LED) technology in order to react with the enamel, penetrate the pores and break down the discolouration molecules in the teeth. Hence, the next step was to place this LED device a few centimetres away from our teeth for 30 minutes. The blue beam would activate the properties of the gel and allow it to perform its task more effectively. And now we wait. 🙂 It was a rather comfortable process as you can probably tell from the photo above. I was falling asleep! The only thing I felt was the warm sensation from the light source. Okay, there was one thing that I didn’t exactly enjoy – the saliva gathering at my mouth throughout the treatment. The staff at Theresa Beauty assured me that it was perfectly fine to swallow my saliva but since I didn’t really like the idea of ingesting the whitening gel, I allowed it to accumulate in my mouth. Eek! To make sure I don’t stay uncomfortable for too long, our thoughtful therapists were already on standby with water and a tray, minutes before the treatment alarm on the LED device went off to allow me to discard the saliva immediately. And then, we were done! Well, I guess it was all worth it as my teeth was visibly four shades lighter after the 30 minutes treatment. And so had B’s. We were still five weeks away from our wedding so Sandra suggested that we come back for another treatment in four weeks to improve the treatment results further. And we did and guess what? My teeth is now at Shade 8. Whee! And B’s at Shade 16 – a whopping 14 shades lighter!
