I visited the AsterSpring outlet at Clementi Mall and upon arrival, I noticed the gigantic posters, rows of beauty products and classy fluorescent lighted reception desk that is complemented by beautiful warm smiles. I must say this combination created a nice haven of calm, comfort and luxury. And of course, the salon boasts the famous and fabulous skincare line Dermalogica. Here I am accompanied by my beauty therapist of the afternoon, Ann who will be administering the treatment too. AsterSpring Beauty Consultant Ann and I. And here is my “chamber” where the transformation will take place – from unsightly rear view to bare-worthy back. 😛 Before the treatment commenced, Ann explained the benefits and what the treatment entailed. In summary, this advanced full back acne treatment is specially formulated for those who desire an ultra-radiant and smooth complexion on their back. Skin is thoroughly cleansed before an Aesthetics Full Back Exfoliation machine works on the back to exfoliate dead skin cells. The exfoliation process helps to lighten uneven skin tone and texture and also to refine pores. Ann explained that this process is known as Aesthipeel and it seeks to exfoliate the skin in the most gentle and safe manner. Thereafter, light extraction is administered to clear skin of impurities and acne. The treatment ends with a deep cleansing masque and antiseptic ray to regulate sebum production and prevent future skin breakouts. Here’s what you can possibly get out of this treatment: Smoother skin on the back with less acne Refined skin pores Lightens marks and reduce the appearance of scars Ease congestion and provides better oil control A healthy and radiant-looking back The treatment lasted for a good 70 minutes… … and tadah! I survived the treatment unscathed. Okay. Maybe a little scathed. The red marks are effects of the extraction process. But don’t worry, they go away after a couple of days. Here’s my back two days after the treatment. I thought my back looked clearer and felt smoother. No more irky bumps due to blackheads. 😀 Even though my back is still not in the ‘flawless category’, I still thank God and AsterSpring for its significant improvement. According to Ann, I’ll need at least three more treatments to attain that desirable radiant back. Well, patience is a virtue so I’ll just wait patiently for the three treatments to be over before I say hello to a back worthy of envy! And this was their verdict: “The skin is noticeably fairer and smoother and it remained like this all the way through the evening hours!” To prove its effectiveness, I decided to try the product in front of my glaring ring light instead of regular flash. I spread the Silky Veil balm across my chest and collarbone and these were the results. I thought my skin tone looked one notch lighter which matched my ‘pasty face’ perfectly. Haha! I’d left out my arms to show you the difference. It is evident that the arms contrast starkly with the face and body that are of a completely different color tone. If you think the results shown above are still not convincing, here’s another “extreme demonstration”. The Silky Veil balm felt non-creamy, non-greasy and a little jelly-like. The balmy and light texture of the product makes it a great daily moisturizer – it glides smoothly on the skin and creates a sleek and silky finish. Despite its ultra-light texture, the balm is rather water-proof and sweat-proof. I applied the product on the back of my hands and rinsed them with water a few hours later. The result? It showed no signs of fading – my skin still looked as radiant and fair as before. The balm only came off when I washed my hands with soap and water. Also, don’t be afraid to get overzealous with the product. I’m serious. One time, I applied the product on my neck and hands several times within a few hours and at the end of the day, instead of looking like a white sheet of paper, my skin felt and looked softer and fairer in the most natural way. However, do make sure that you do not get any balm on your clothes as it may cause staining. If contact occurs, wash your garment with water and soap. All in all, I think this is a great product that should have been introduced to Singapore a long time ago. Psst! Squeaky clean! Now we exfoliate our skin with Forever Living’s Forever Aloe Scrub® to prep our skin for the nourishing facial mask. This helps to balance our skin’s pH level when we apply the mask later. Our skin’s current pH level is 5.5. Aloe Fleur de Jouvence® Aloe Activator Aloe Activator contains Stabilized Aloe Vera gel and Allantoin, an organic substance that has been shown to aid in cell growth and renewal. Aloe Activator is a superb moisturizing agent, containing enzymes, amino acids and polysaccharides. It works well with the Facial Contour Mask Powder to moisturize, cleanse and condition the skin. Dead skin cells are removed by the mask, leaving new cells to give a fresh, vibrant and more luminous look to the skin. Its pH balance is 4.5, making it even gentle enough to use near the eyes. Aloe Activator is incredibly versatile. Although regarded as a principal component of the Aloe Fleur de Jouvence regime, it is extremely effective for a number of other purposes, such as a skin cleanser, freshener and astringent. To extract the blackheads, we created our very own pore pack by placing a translucent sheet of paper on our nose bridge and brushing the mixture over the paper. We left it to dry for 15 minutes. I experienced an uncomfortable tingling sensation when I first applied the mask but the feeling wore off after a few minutes. As the mask began to dry off, my face also started to feel tight and stretched. This is a normal phenomenon according to the Natural Treat beauty consultants. The dried mask also provided some tell-tale signs of bad skin. At this point, if your mask cracked, it means your skin is dehydrated and if it wrinkled, this signifies that your skin is very unhealthy. Finally, my mask was completely dry and we were advised to peel off the DIY pore pack gently. I thought the sheet made an effective pore pack as it efficiently removed the blackheads on my nose and cheek. If you’re the squeamish sort, don’t look at this next photo! Afterthoughts… The jovial beauty therapists definitely made the entire workshop experience a joy. My skin also looked more radiant and smooth immediately after the session. There were some mild breakouts a few days later but they quickly cleared up after a week. I like the idea of a DIY facial regimen as you can clear your pores and nourish your skin as and when you like. The workshop delivers this with a 2 hour lesson on the proper steps of cleansing, toning and moisturizing with a handful of great products. The only downside is most of the session is spent on explaining the benefits of the Forever Living products rather than on proper skincare routines. So a month ago, CLINIQUE organized the ‘Festive Skincare Workshop’ to dispense important knowledge on skincare techniques and products for the holiday season as well as to introduce their Christmas Gift Sets for our lovely ladies and charming gentlemen. Here we are receiving beauty enlightenment from one of the industry’s most reputable brands. Each table was given a few makeup brushes, a makeup mirror, a goodie bag, some brochures and mostly importantly… … a Skin Analysis Sheet to determine our skin type. We’ve all heard of the groundbreaking CLINIQUE 3-Step system: Cleanse, Exfoliate and Moisturize. But do you know that the products used in the three steps are highly dependent on your skin type? A true fashionista should never allow her figure to dictate her fashion. So I began searching for a long term solution. Nope, surgery and implants are not on the list. I’ve heard enough of the risks and horrible aftermath of breast surgeries so these are definitely a no-go for me. Since going au naturel is the only way for me, a possible remedy would be natural bust enhancement treatments. I’ve heard these treatments produce ‘miraculous results’, hence I have always been curious as to how the bustline can be reshaped without employing needles and going through invasive procedures. I was given a very warm welcome by the lovely folks of Tokyo Bust Express – besides a soothing cup of tea, I was also presented a beautiful stalk of white lily that is now sitting comfortably on my TV console. Before the commencement of every treatment, the therapists of Tokyo Bust Express will conduct a breast analysis and consultation to understand our current condition and our expectations from their bust treatments. My consultation was conducted by Evonne who’s been with Tokyo Bust Express since its inception five years ago. Evonne really knew her stuff. During the consultation, Evonne also conducted an enlightening ten-minute lesson on the structure of breasts, the ways to maintain them as well as a rundown on the key ingredients of the treatments. I thought she sounded more like a Biologist and Chemist than a Bust Enhancement Therapist. Haha! Here are my takeaways from the short session. This is the structure of our breasts. Many of us have the misconception that our breasts are made up of fats only so this naturally also leads us to think that our weight has a direct relationship with the size of our boobs. Well, we’re half right. Our breasts are made up of fats, lobules, areola and etc (see photo above) which forms the mammary gland. When we lose weight, we also lose the fats in our breasts. So if your breasts are largely made up of fats, your cup size will probably shrink by a great deal when that happens. However, if you have large lobules, weight fluctuations will not affect your bust size. This means that our breast size is chiefly determined by the size of our mammary glands. Tokyo Bust Express treatments targets these mammary glands and seeks to improve their size to achieve desired results. To define the ratio of fats to lobules in my boobs, Evonne conducted a ‘breast examination’ by feeling the breasts and underarms with the fingers. Then she measured the distance of my boobs to the center of my collarbone and also the distance between them. These were the measurements and below is my explanation. If you would like to lift sagging breasts, you should seek to reduce the distance between the boobs and the center of the collarbone. And if you would like to reduce the wideness of your boobs, your treatment should aim to reduce the distance between the boobs (length of base of triangle). After a thorough bust analysis, here’s Evonne’s verdict of my current condition: One boob is slightly lower than the other. Small bulges near armpits (armpit fats) Boobs are mostly made up of fats (sigh…) Every Tokyo Bust Express treatment is customized to address the unique requirements of each individual. Talk about first class service! Let the treatment began! The therapy began with a soothing neck and shoulder massage by Bust Therapist Taylor. Did you notice Taylor’s firm and generous bustline??? Taylor has been with Tokyo Bust Express for a while. She told me she was very impressed with the results delivered by the Tokyo Bust Express treatments so she decided to join the team to help girls realize their ‘busty dreams’. 😀 And since therapists of Tokyo Bust Express are expected to go for regular bust treatments to firm, lift and upkeep their breasts, her shapely bust should come as no surprise. 🙂 After the massage, I was given a collagen scrub to unwind, cleanse the pores and to prep my skin for the serums and creams that follow. The serums and creams mainly contain phytoestrogens. In case you’re wondering… The three major hormones that are responsible for breast and female body development are Estrogen, Progesterone and Prolactin. To make up for the declining levels of estrogen, phytoestrogens, a group of chemicals found in plants that can act like the hormone estrogen, are commonly used in the Tokyo Bust Treatments to reduce menopausal symptoms, promote cardiovascular health, bone health, breast health and to prevent breast cancer. My pain threshold is rather low so this process was slightly uncomfortable for me but it was still bearable. Next, Taylor gave my bust a lift by first applying gel on my boobs and then placing a device that delivers gentle electric pulses on my chest. Taylor made sure I was okay by periodically asking if I were comfortable with the tingling sensation or if I needed the pulses to be gentler. 🙂 Lastly, I received a suction therapy that gave my chest a final boost before I left the treatment room happy and satisfied. Here’s the improvement from my two-hour treatment. Pretty significant eh? Basically, this means my boobs are less wide and saggy. Beside figure improvement (pun intended), there were also physical improvements. My boobs felt firmer and looked rounder. The armpit fats were also visibly reduced. Afterthoughts… The high level of thoughtfulness of the staff and their professionalism left me dumbfounded. Throughout the process, I did not feel any discomfort or uneasiness. The results of the treatment were also astonishing. After the massage, I could already see obvious differences and I thought I was gonna cry. Of course I did not go from a small B to a D cup. My boobs were only slightly bigger than before but the firmness and shape improved by twofold at least. I can now slip into any dress without feeling inferior about my less-endowed figure. According to Evonne, my mammary glands reacted very well to the treatment – much better than average. Well, this also means results may vary for every individual. The general price line is rather low and very competitive among other nail salons within the area. Well, I guess there’s nothing to nitpick about. Located only 3 miles away, competitive prices, 2-in-1 salon, what more can I ask for? I walked into the salon and was instantly greeted by the sounds of hair dryers and the cheerful banter of the Hair Spot salon staff and customers. This definitely lifted my dying weekday spirits. House of J Nails is discreetly located at the back of the salon in a small and comfy room. When you enter the cozy premises, this is what you’ll see… Yes, that is it. Two bright blue floral armchairs, a TV set and rows and rows of nail polish bottles. And this is how Jenni, the owner of the House of J Nails has managed to keep prices low and affordable with a simple and modest nail parlor. But fret not. Despite its humble settings, the nail parlor is well equipped with the latest nail colors, manicure and pedicure tools. This was the state of my nails before my treatment. I know I know. They were mangled and horrifying to look at. And the worst part – we are well into December and I still had my Halloween nails on. Haha! But I can explain! I had gelish nails on both my hands and feet and due to my busy schedule, I haven’t been dutifully visiting the nail salon for a manicure.
