I recommend… The Body Shop
I guess we all already know that The Body Shop does not test on animals but do you know that they have taken ‘sustainable development’ to the next level by also practising fair trade so that communities benefit as well as you?
Our favourite Body Shop loofahs, cocoa butter, wooden massagers and the signature Christmas gift boxes are all produced by their Community Fair Trade Partners in Ghana, Honduras, Nepal and Northern and Southern India.
And guess what? Not only do these communities earn a regular income and avoid exploitation by middlemen, they are also given a higher standard of living as The Body Shop donates part of their profits from the Christmas gifts to these communities to build new schools.
Many of the children in those areas have to walk at least 5km to school everyday so the funds could offer a better learning environment that is within their vicinity.
