  • Pan Pacific Singapore Reigns Supreme! Trust Me, Even TripAdvisor Will Agree!

B and I stayed at the Pan Pacific Singapore Hotel a few years ago, albeit not at the same time, we both retained similar pleasant memories of the charming hotel. However, the good experience was entirely overwritten two months ago when we visited the refurbished luxury hotel for their Bed, Brunch and Bliss one-night staycation. This time, we got ‘more than what we asked for’. 😛 I would say, the 5-star treatment has now been elevated to a whole new level with cosy suites that offer magnificent panoramic views of the city and complimentary champagne brunches which are simply – an epitome of stylish living and grandeur. We felt like royalty as we indulged in our idyllic getaway. Within 48 hours, the pre-wedding jitters were lifted away and the brunch, I don’t even know where to start. If you’re looking for a resplendent romantic respite that pampers you as well as your belly AND that simply screams ‘Fabulousa!’, then you have to read on! And this was where it all started. Checking in was a breeze. We were warmly received by Pan Pacfic’s associates upon arriving the hotel lobby. Before we even introduced ourselves, they addressed B and I by our names! That certainly made us feel really welcome. Then we headed to the Pacific Club for our check in but was promptly told that their Pan Pac associates had already conducted an in-room check in on our behalf. Whoa???!!  Well, less time for admin procedures means more time for play! Woo hoo! Before we head to our room, we were given a private tour of the hotel premises. The first thing we noticed? These cute floating timbre pods at the lobby of course! They weren’t there during my last stay at the hotel in 2009. Evidently, the hotel underwent an extensive furbishment. We asked for more details and was told that the hotel closed for three months for a complete makeover in 2012 and today, the lobby features Asia’s LONGEST bar and we’re talking about a whopping 44 metres! As well as these adorable pods that are set over water to give their guests a comfy private space while they enjoy their drinks and music. I was also very glad to see that they retained their iconic 35-storey atrium which features these glass elevators that oversee the lobby. And now it’s time to go up, up and away! And here I am on the 34th floor – all ready to check into my room of wonders. But first,  let’s check the view. Hmm… not bad, not bad. Okay. Enough messing around. Say hello to Pan Pacific Singapore’s Harbour Suite. 🙂 OPEN SESAME! And it leads to this. 🙂 Just what every vain girl needs – a mirror with built in lights! “Oh Juliana, what big mirrors you’ve got!” and the girl replies “All the better to check for blackheads, apply my mascara, and remove accidental lipstick stains with, my dear!” #justbeingsilly First there was the #selfie, then the #footsie. Now I’m gonna start my own trend, the #tubsie! Bath lovers will cry if they see this. Imagine soaking in this luxurious and smooth designer concrete tub filled with a mass of frothy bubbles. Aaah… It’s so big I think it would be able to fit three of me comfortably. Here’s a wide shot of the bathroom. Check out the amenities! Yay! Products from the UK’s leading beauty brand, Elemis ! Now I can recreate the luxurious spa experience in the comfort of my own room! Besides the usual shower products, hand cream and nail kits, the hotel also provided this Elemis Cooling Mint Mist spray that’s absolutely refreshing for the skin. It’s ideal for jetsetters for a quick pick-me-up after a long flight. Think of it as Febreeze for your face! Tiger Balm ointment spotted! Who would have expected to see this??? In case you’re wondering what you can do with it… It is perfect for soothing bloatedness, headaches, muscle strains or any other discomfort you may have! #TrustAuntJules The bathroom never ends. Here’s the other side that features the toilet and shower. Yay! More Elemis products in the shower room. 😀 I love how elegant, contemporary and seamless the entire bathroom looks – from the sleek marble tiles to the neutral interior. Great design pointers for our new home, B! Next up – the walk-in wardrobe! Yup! You read me right! Every suite is equipped with this spacious walk-in closet that also comes with a full-length mirror, safe, comfy cushioned slippers, ironing board and sleeping robes. And now we walk through the door way again to enter… … the living room! Yup, I’ve a living room too. 😛 The living room is a dream world on its own. There’s a large sofa, smart TV, nice selection of magazines and even a Nespresso coffee machine! Psst! That is an ergonomic Herman Miller desk chair by the way. Office luxury at it’s finest. 🙂 This personalized message was displayed on the screen when we came in. Stuff that was on my work desk. A very futuristic thumb drive with everything we need to know about our Bed, Brunch and Bliss one-night staycation (and that includes the perks)! Another personalized note by the Pan Pac folks. 🙂 As you can see, we were also granted access to the Pacific Club that is situated at the crown of the hotel on level 38. It offers stunning 360-degree views of Marina Bay, the South China Sea and the city skyline. Designed to blend the business and leisure needs of guests, the Pacific Club experience includes round-the- clock access, privileges such as refreshments and cocktails, and personalised guest services. Regrettably, we didn’t visit the club at all (except during the private tour) as we were too busy taking photos and enjoying the other facilities of the hotel. Well, maybe next time. 🙂 Going back to the room… With just one click, I can request for anything in the world! Okay, we kinda did. We requested for a DVD player, room service, more Evian water and we received them in a jiffy. I also noticed this device on the table. Can you guess what it is for? Tadah! It’s a table lamp! Simply swipe the strip shown above to adjust the brightness. Very cool eh? Wowee! In-room treats by their very own Pacific Marketplace. These cookies are da bomb! B and I broke our no-carb diet for these bad boys! Haha! Yup. And we gobbled them up within minutes. Fresh juicilicious fruits anyone? Can’t forget the mini bar! Everything is FOC except the alcoholic beverages. No alcohol? No problem! Those complimentary juices and these choco babies are enough to satisfy any beverage needs. 😛 Nothing beats a king-sized bed with plush linens and pillows, in front of a 37” Smart television that synchronises wirelessly to your mobile devices! And that view behind me… Breathtaking, eh? Did I mention that the staycay package provides more than just a room? It also offers a gaping 30% saving for dinner at hotel-operated restaurants and bars but note that advance reservations are required at Atrium, Pacific Marketplace, Edge, Hai Tien Lo and Keyaki. Bobby and I celebrated our first and last Valentine’s Day at the Keyaki so we intuitively made reservations at Keyaki for a romantic pre-wedding dinner date as well as to enjoy the 30% discount. Hehe. You have to see the food! The sashimi was fresh, meat was succulent and the presentation – unmatched. No wonder they’ve stayed on top for so many years. This wasn’t in the menu that day but we remember having it during our last visit and falling head over heels with it. And guess what? The chef kindly offered to whip up this dish again for our dining delight! In case you’re wondering, it’s grilled asparagus enveloped in a delectable slice of Wagyu beef. Mmm… We’re done with our very indulging dinner! #utterlysatisfied And now it’s back to the hotel for a relaxing hot bath. And here comes the biggest horror story of my stay – I forgot to bring my Lush bath bombs. Teng teng teng! I bought them, packed them together but totally didn’t remember to lug them along when I left my house. Urgh! But ‘life will always find a way’ – when I was about to prepare my hot bath,  guess what I discovered??? Yup! Bath salts, courtesy of Pan Pacific! Not a bad substitute. 😛 Rise and shine! Awww… I wish I can wake up to this spectacular scenery every day. After taking the above photo, we headed straight back to Keyaki for more photos with their Tanuki statue and zen decor. It was too dark to capture the serenity and beauty of the garden so we decided to do it when it’s bright and sunny. Morning kiss! Muuuuaaah! :* About time for brunch! The privileges of the Bed, Brunch and Bliss package are endless I tell you! We were also treated to a four-hour Sunday Champagne Brunch (usual price $158 per adult) for two at Edge, the hotel’s live theatre restaurant located on level 3 of the hotel as part of our staycay perks. You’ll be astonished to know that the Champagne Brunch offers an extensive sumptous selection seafood, Japanese omi wagyu beef and Pan Pacific sausages grilled a la minute, prime rib and suckling pig on the carvery, truffle eggs, freshly- made duck confit ravioli, a two-metre cheeseboard and over 20 dessert choices, complemented with Veuve Clicquot Champagne which is apparently, my most favorite champagne in the world! Seeing this just makes my day! Whee! When we arrived, we were immediately led to our table which was already reserved by Pan Pac and… it has my name on it! 😀 Besides the pre-prepped luxurious fare at the different buffet sections, you can also order freshly made food from the stations with these wooden sticks. Here’s what we got! My dear foodies, below is what you need to know about the 4-Hour Champagne Brunch. Highlights of the brunch:  – Crustacean on Ice: Boston lobster, 3 types of French and Canadian Oysters – ‘Live’ Grill: Wagyu Beef and signature Pan Pacific Sausages grilled upon request – Carvery: Prime Rib, Waygu Beef, Suckling Pig – Egg Station: Poached Egg with Truffle Coulis – Pasta made a la minute: Duck Confit Ravioli – Feast-On-Wheels: Signature seafood and meats items such as Home Cured Salmon Gravlax and Crispy Kurobuta Pork Belly served at guests’ tables – Two-metre Cheeseboard: 30 varieties of artisanal Cheese and Raclette a la minute – Dessert Station: An elaborate presentation of 20 desserts including Candy Crush Sponge Cake, Gluten-Free Red Velvet Cake and Chocolate Brownie For those with a sweet tooth, you’re gonna drool at these next few photos! And how can you not instagram it??? Haha! #foodoftheday He’s had four glasses in an hour and now he’s thinking of getting another one. Sheesh! And you know what? The waiter at the bar noticed his pondering expression and decided to serve him another glass even though we didn’t ask for it! Oh well. Here you go B. Cheers! It was 4pm and the brunch had ended. And in case you’re wondering, we haven’t checked out. Yup another staycation perk – late check out at 5pm. Just how service-oriented can Pan Pac get??? Wait till you hear this next feature and you’ll know. We explored their pool. Well, it doesn’t look anything out of the ordinary right? Wrong! The outdoor pool is equipped with underwater speakers! Haha! Yup. It’s no longer restricted to synchronised swimmers, now you can also listen to awesome tunes while you take a dip in the pool. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, I came back to my room and found this on the table. Yay! Now check out will only take seconds! Since the hotel expected a high volume of departures on Sundays, they decided to offer Express Check Out services for their guests. All we have to do is to view and verify our room bill on our TV and complete the form attached. Then return it at the Check-Out box at level 1. When I arrived at the lobby, one of the Pan Pac associates immediately approached me and asked if we were checking out. When he confirmed that I was, he simply took the form from me and told me he’ll check out on my behalf. I wasn’t even near the check out box! In case you’re wondering, the associate didn’t know I’m a blogger invited by the hotel so this is not a biased view, okay? The level of service in this hotel is simply mind-blowing. How can everyone in the hotel be so consistent in delivering impeccable service??? I’m certainly giving Pan Pacific Singapore 5 Honeyz crowns! The interior and buffet spread are world class and the good service was the icing on an already amazing cake. B and I swear that we’ll return very very soon. Maybe even this week! My only gripe is probably the lack of a 3 pin plug socket near a mirror so I can style my hair with my hair tools. But of course, this is a small oversight compared to the personalised attention and great hospitality Pan Pac has given us so far. Never have we seen a hotel this committed to providing good service. Kudos Pan Pac! We’ll definitely be recommending our friends and family to your hotel! Here’s a summary of what the Bed, Brunch and Bliss package entails: – A one-night stay for two guests in a Harbour Studio room – Sunday Champagne Brunch for two at Edge – Late check-out at 5:00pm on Sunday – 30% savings for dinner at hotel-operated restaurants and bars (Advance reservations required at Atrium, Pacific Marketplace, Edge, Hai Tien Lo and Keyaki) – Internet access – One parking coupon Pan Pacific is always introducing new staycation packages with similar privileges so please stick around for the latest about them or simply visit their FB page at  facebook.com/panpacificsingapore  or their Offers page for more info. Engaged couples who are interested in holding their wedding at Pan Pac rejoice! Wedding at Pan Pacific Singapore Hotel The considerate folks at Black Box have done it again. Any lovebirds taking the big step will know how stressful wedding day can be. A million people to please, everyone’s pulling you left, right and center, the organized chaos can be dizzying. Things usually do fall into place and most people can look back and laugh but when you’re in the midst of the madness it can be pretty stressful. Thankfully anyone holding their wedding at the Pan Pacific Hotel Singapore will get a head start with these his and hers wedding survival Black Boxes – full to the brim with essential goodies. The brides box contains 15 fabulous items including the Klarity LasertoxTM V-Line Slim Up Mask, Klarity Lasertox CC Miracle White Lotion, Nivea Refreshing Facial Cleansing Wipes and my favourites, the Hada Labo SHA Hydrating Lotion and Hada Labo SHA Hydrating Milk as well as the Bioderma Sensibio H20 makeup remover, strong yet suitable for even sensitive skin. It really is a great pre-prepared box, I only wish brides-to-be could get their hands on these beauty boxes earlier as it’s always risky business for an imminent bride to use a product on wedding day that they haven’t used before. Some of these products would no doubt do wonders for your complexion leading up to the big day. But this is only one half of the equation, what did the hubby think of his Black Box? “WOOHOOOOOOO!!!! Hawt diggitty dawg! It’s Bobby here and I can say I was pretty stoked with the grooms’ edition of the Black Box. I’m still clueless about all this skin care stuff, so to have products already picked out for me to use was pretty great. The box contained 7 products of which my faves were the L’Oréal Paris Men Expertise Charcoal Black Scrub, Men Expert Hydra Energetic X-Treme Moisturizer and Nivea Men Silver Protect Deodorant Roll On. Hey, because the groom is worth it too!” – Bobby Yet another small yet thoughtful reason for you to check out Pan Pac’s wedding packages. • Year In Review: My Hair Makeovers At Shunji Matsuo

2015 has been nothing but rewarding – hosted my very first health and wellness event with my husband, went on a nice honeymoon, got married again in the UK (haha!), took part in the Singapore Blog Awards, bought a new house and acquired a new office space for Honeyz Cube. What made it even better was stepping out of my beauty comfort zone and trying new colors for the first time. I loved playing hair chameleon as I went to the salon almost once every month and leaving with a completely different hair persona each time. Let’s take a very colourful trip down memory lane. Here’s my year in hair! Most people stress over their weddings, now imagine that I had to do it three times! It was fun and exciting but I did have to play my hair safe. Dominated by dark and brown hues, this green accent was as adventurous as I got. Strategically planned by my stylist, the green melted away to leave a rich brown tone for my wedding, perfectly in keeping with Belle’s aesthetic from Beauty and the Beast as I had hoped. January 2015 A Study In Pink It was the much-needed injection of life and vitality that my hair had been craving for. It’s remarkable how much your hair can affect your mood. The power pink punch really boosted my energy to make it an absolutely fantastic start of the year. February 2015 Pink Must Go On I was definitely not ready to let go of pink girl power so fast! So rather than just re-hash the same style, William reimagined my pink mane so that I could keep buzzing with life from the vibrant colour all while sporting a different style. March – May 2015 Purple Pride It made for the perfect sunset companion on my honeymoon. Dark definitely doesn’t mean serious! June – August 2015 Ombre Mania As the sun set on a fantastic summer and autumn started to raise its sleepy head, I embraced this classic ombre look. Great for autumn as the leaves around the world turn a warm golden brown, it’s a fun yet versatile look appropriate for both work and play. September – October 2015 Show Me The Light Not yet ready to let my ombre look go completely and yet too time-strapped for a completely new do, William worked his magic to refresh my existing look. With some strategic highlights, William was able to create something completely new while maintaining the overall existing colour theme. November – December 2015 Inner Rock Star The lure of the dark side was just too strong as I embraced my inner rock star once again for the end of the year. Literally ending the year with a loud bang and explosion of colour! Feeling adventurous but scared to take the colour plunge, fear not, you’ll be in very safe hands with William, a real colour master. • Salon Review: Tokyo Bust Express Review

Advertorial “It’s a miracle, it’s a miracle!” I exclaimed upon receiving the above results. Confused? Read on to find out! I’m blessed (and cursed) with a less-endowed figure so I’m constantly looking for outfits that can conceal this ‘imperfection’ and flatter my body shape. As mentioned in my many fashion entries , I usually wear ruffled tops or heart necklines to make up for the lack of rack. What limited wardrobe choices I hear you say. Well, you’re right! A true fashionista should never allow her figure to dictate her fashion. So I began searching for a long term solution. Nope, surgery and implants are not on the list. I’ve heard enough of the risks and horrible aftermath of breast surgeries so these are definitely a no-go for me. Since going au naturel is the only way for me, a possible remedy would be natural bust enhancement treatments. I’ve heard these treatments produce ‘miraculous results’, hence I have always been curious as to how the bustline can be reshaped without employing needles and going through invasive procedures. So two awesome weeks ago, my wish was realized when Tokyo Bust Express invited me to their freshly opened outlet at City Square Mall, #B2-39 for a long awaited answer. I was given a very warm welcome by the lovely folks of Tokyo Bust Express – besides a soothing cup of tea, I was also presented a beautiful stalk of white lily that is now sitting comfortably on my TV console. Before the commencement of every treatment, the therapists of Tokyo Bust Express will conduct a breast analysis and consultation to understand our current condition and our expectations from their bust treatments. My consultation was conducted by Evonne who’s been with Tokyo Bust Express since its inception five years ago. Evonne really knew her stuff. During the consultation, Evonne also conducted an enlightening ten-minute lesson on the structure of breasts, the ways to maintain them as well as a rundown on the key ingredients of the treatments. I thought she sounded more like a Biologist and Chemist than a Bust Enhancement Therapist. Haha! Here are my takeaways from the short session. This is the structure of our breasts. Many of us have the misconception that our breasts are made up of fats only so this naturally also leads us to think that our weight has a direct relationship with the size of our boobs. Well, we’re half right. Our breasts are made up of fats, lobules, areola and etc (see photo above) which forms the mammary gland. When we lose weight, we also lose the fats in our breasts. So if your breasts are largely made up of fats, your cup size will probably shrink by a great deal when that happens. However, if you have large lobules, weight fluctuations will not affect your bust size. This means that our breast size is chiefly determined by the size of our mammary glands. Tokyo Bust Express treatments targets these mammary glands and seeks to improve their size to achieve desired results. To define the ratio of fats to lobules in my boobs, Evonne conducted a ‘breast examination’ by feeling the breasts and underarms with the fingers. Then she measured the distance of my boobs to the center of my collarbone and also the distance between them. These were the measurements and below is my explanation. If you would like to lift sagging breasts, you should seek to reduce the distance between the boobs and the center of the collarbone. And if you would like to reduce the wideness of your boobs, your treatment should aim to reduce the distance between the boobs (length of base of triangle). After a thorough bust analysis, here’s Evonne’s verdict of my current condition: One boob is slightly lower than the other. Small bulges near armpits (armpit fats) Boobs are mostly made up of fats (sigh…) Every Tokyo Bust Express treatment is customized to address the unique requirements of each individual. I’ve asked for a bustier and firmer chest as well as a reduction in armpit fats, so Evonne proposed the Bust Odoroki Therapy that promises to deliver results with a collagen scrub, a shaping and contouring massage, gel mask and suction therapy. With this, I proceeded to my treatment room in a comfortable robe provided by Tokyo Bust Express. The cozy room was softly lit and nicely sprinkled with rose petals which created a very romantic ambience. Here’s a happy me wrapped in a soft and comfortable robe and standing in a lovely room and holding the most beautiful flower. I’m in paradise I tell you! Tokyo Bust Express brings comfort to the next level with these soft and comfy bedsheets that are exactly the same as the ones I have in my room. I felt homey for a while. Haha! Okay correction. They bring comfort to the next universe! Tokyo Bust Express had installed bed warmers in their beds to make sure that customers are comfortably tucked into their warm beds before the treatments. Talk about first class service! Let the treatment began! The therapy began with a soothing neck and shoulder massage by Bust Therapist Taylor. Did you notice Taylor’s firm and generous bustline??? Taylor has been with Tokyo Bust Express for a while. She told me she was very impressed with the results delivered by the Tokyo Bust Express treatments so she decided to join the team to help girls realize their ‘busty dreams’. 😀 And since therapists of Tokyo Bust Express are expected to go for regular bust treatments to firm, lift and upkeep their breasts, her shapely bust should come as no surprise. 🙂 After the massage, I was given a collagen scrub to unwind, cleanse the pores and to prep my skin for the serums and creams that follow. The serums and creams mainly contain phytoestrogens. In case you’re wondering… The three major hormones that are responsible for breast and female body development are Estrogen, Progesterone and Prolactin. To make up for the declining levels of estrogen, phytoestrogens, a group of chemicals found in plants that can act like the hormone estrogen, are commonly used in the Tokyo Bust Treatments to reduce menopausal symptoms, promote cardiovascular health, bone health, breast health and to prevent breast cancer. Other active ingredients in the treatments include: Fenugreek Seed Extract (Prevents cancer) Mexican Wild Yam Root (Excellent source of beta-carotene and diosgenin, which are powerful phytoestrogens that aid breast development) Humulu Lupulus (Hops Flower) Dang Gui Root (Balances women’s hormone levels) Pueraria Mirifica (Contains high levels of phytoestrogens) Once I was done with the scrub, I was given another massage – this time to shape and contour my breasts. Taylor employed traditional Japanese massage techniques to ‘push armpit fats downwards’ and to reshape my bust. This breast enhancement massage helps the lymphatic system drain those pent up toxins and prevent them from building up and contributing to cancer or other ailments. My pain threshold is rather low so this process was slightly uncomfortable for me but it was still bearable. Next, Taylor gave my bust a lift by first applying gel on my boobs and then placing a device that delivers gentle electric pulses on my chest. Taylor made sure I was okay by periodically asking if I were comfortable with the tingling sensation or if I needed the pulses to be gentler. 🙂 Lastly, I received a suction therapy that gave my chest a final boost before I left the treatment room happy and satisfied. Here’s the improvement from my two-hour treatment. Pretty significant eh? Basically, this means my boobs are less wide and saggy. Beside figure improvement (pun intended), there were also physical improvements. My boobs felt firmer and looked rounder. The armpit fats were also visibly reduced. I couldn’t be happier with the immediate and excellent results. 😀 Thank you Evonne, Taylor and Jiefang for facilitating this! Left to right: Evonne, me and Taylor Beauty Tip! According to Evonne, armpit fat is migrated breast tissue that is caused by ill-fitting bras. So she encourages all girls to wear a good supportive bra at all times to prevent armpit fats and sagging breasts. Afterthoughts… The high level of thoughtfulness of the staff and their professionalism left me dumbfounded. Throughout the process, I did not feel any discomfort or uneasiness. The results of the treatment were also astonishing. After the massage, I could already see obvious differences and I thought I was gonna cry. Of course I did not go from a small B to a D cup. My boobs were only slightly bigger than before but the firmness and shape improved by twofold at least. I can now slip into any dress without feeling inferior about my less-endowed figure. According to Evonne, my mammary glands reacted very well to the treatment – much better than average. Well, this also means results may vary for every individual. Likewise, you have to be realistic with your expectations and don’t expect over-the-top results when you visit the breast enhancement center. The treatments aim to improve and maintain your current bust condition in the most natural way. Anything more you’ll need surgery. That said, I still strongly encourage you ladies to give this breast enhancement treatment a try. Tokyo Bust Express is ahead of the curve (this time, no pun intended) in the bust enhancement industry and it utilizes the safest techniques and natural ingredients to help you attain the most alluring curves. So visiting the salon before your year-end parties, wedding or any important gathering is your safest bet. 🙂 Guess what? • I Wasn’t Expecting This Side of Bangladesh… 🇧🇩 | Singaporean in Dhaka

This Dhaka trip was a special one. 🥹✨ We went back to visit where my mother-in-law grew up in Bangladesh, and to pay our respects to my husband Bobby’s grandparents, whom he still misses very dearly. I got to experience a side of Bangladesh I’ve never seen before. Life felt so simple… almost like we had travelled back in time. From a traditional stove built on the ground to a toilet that traumatised Bobby as a child (yes, really 😆)… and his lifelong fear of spiders (arachnophobia 🕷️). Did we encounter them again? You’ll have to watch to find out! 👀 It was such a meaningful trip and somehow, I feel like I got to know Bobby even more… even after 14 years together. I’m so grateful for this experience. I think you’ll really enjoy this one especially if you’re a fellow city dweller. Come stargazing with me and experience the beauty of a simpler life. ✨ Your friend, Juliana

  • Taylor Swift Visited This Singapore Restaurant Twice? | KOMA Singapore

Yes! That’s right. Apparently, Taylor Swift has visited KOMA Singapore twice when she was in town… and last week, I finally got to experience it for myself. I had the honour of trying the KOMA Singapore weekday lunch set, and wow! The space completely took my breath away. The moment you walk in, it almost feels like you’ve stepped onto a movie set. Everything about the place is dramatic, grand, and beautifully designed. My good friend Hyora actually invited me to lunch that day, which made the visit even more special. Since she doesn’t eat beef, we decided to go with chicken dishes as our main protein. We started with the Scallop Sashimi and Chicken Karaage. I’m a huge fan of scallops, so the sashimi was an instant win for me. It was fresh, sweet, and very clean tasting, exactly how good sashimi should be. The Chicken Karaage was nicely crispy, though if I’m being honest, it was a little forgettable compared to the other dishes we had later. Next came the Truffled Fried Rice and the Ginza Chicken. Now, I love truffle, so I might be slightly biased… but the truffled fried rice was a real treat. It was incredibly fragrant and packed with large chunks of mushrooms, which made every bite satisfying. The Ginza Chicken was also quite nice - juicy, flavourful, and comforting. If I return next time (which I probably will), I would love to try the Pan-Seared Seabass or the Barbecue Beef Short Rib. We finished the meal with their complimentary desserts. My absolute favourite was the coconut ice cream, which is served inside a real coconut husk. Such a cute and memorable touch! It tasted refreshing and was the perfect way to end the meal. The Space One thing I have to say - KOMA’s interiors are stunning. They even have private dining rooms, which honestly reminded me of something out of a James Bond movie. Very sleek, very dramatic, and perfect if you want a private meal with family or friends. There’s also a beautiful bar area where you can sit, dine, and enjoy drinks. The staff at the bar were incredibly friendly. In fact, I’d say they were even friendlier than the staff in the main dining area and since this is an honest review, I have to tell you the truth! When I was taking photos, they actually encouraged me to take more and told me to take my time, which was really nice of them. Would I Come Back? Absolutely. Between the stunning interiors, the delicious scallop sashimi, the incredibly fragrant truffled fried rice, and my fun little lunch date with Hyora , it was a really lovely experience. Next time, we should probably bring our husbands along for a double date. • What Chinese New Year Really Looks Like in Singapore | CNY Vlogs

This Chinese New Year felt a little special. We had a slightly longer run-up to the festivities this year, which meant more time to prep, plan, and really soak in the festive mood. For once, I managed to publish two vlogs - one a preparation vlog, and the other the actual Chinese New Year celebrations where you’ll see all the unfiltered chaos of what celebrating CNY in Singapore is really like. Honestly, it’s probably quite similar to how things are celebrated in Malaysia too… except they have fireworks. Haha! Which, thankfully, I also managed to capture a little of in my prep vlog. This CNY preparation video captures the quieter moments, the behind-the-scenes bits, the small preparations, and the in-between scenes from most of the content we shared throughout the festive season. If you haven’t been to the newly revamped Chinese Garden at Jurong Lake, consider this a little sneak peek to see if it’s worth a visit. (Spoiler: it absolutely is.) ✨ And Then… The Real Celebrations Begin Now that you’ve seen the run-up, here comes the real deal. The actual Chinese New Year celebrations begin on CNY Eve, and from there things move pretty quickly. We visited more than five houses, did lo hei what felt like a thousand times, and had such an eventful Chinese New Year. 🧧✨ For those unfamiliar, Lo Hei (鱼生) (also known as Yusheng) is a Chinese New Year tradition especially popular in Singapore and Malaysia. Everyone gathers around a colourful raw fish salad and tosses it high in the air while shouting auspicious wishes for prosperity and good luck. The higher you toss, the more luck you’re believed to bring for the year ahead. For this vlog, I decided to keep things very real and unfiltered, so you can experience Chinese New Year the way we do here in Singapore, the local conversations, the inside jokes, the laughter, and all the little chaotic moments that somehow make the festive season so special. You’ll see us enjoying steamboat, doing plenty of lo hei, and even trying something completely unexpected - a blind box steamboat, which turned out to be such a hilarious surprise. I’m really glad I managed to capture these memories not just for you guys, but also for my family and friends. I hope you enjoy this little glimpse into how we celebrate Chinese New Year! Wishing You a Wonderful Year Ahead Wishing all of you a beautiful Year of the Fire Horse, filled with momentum, good health, meaningful moments, and smooth roads ahead. 🐎🔥 Thank you for being here and sharing these memories with me. • Hold Your Horses! We’re going back in time and hosting a Chinese New Year Giveaway! 《新年旧梦》

《新年旧梦》Old dreams, new year. 🧧✨ Chinese New Year Eve has always been my favourite. Every year, Grandpa and Grandma would wake up early. Grandpa would play classic Chinese and CNY songs, the kind that sounded like they came straight from a gramophone. Grandma would already be in the kitchen, cooking away, while Grandpa chopped festive pork, duck, and roast chicken, happily humming along to his CNY tunes. My dad would be decorating the house, and everyone would joke that it looked like we’d accidentally stepped into Chinatown. My mum would paint her nails… and mine too then move on to preparing the red packets. That’s why I call this video 新年旧梦 which literally means Old Dreams, New Year. A nostalgic CNY. This little video, sprinkled with a touch of magic dust, takes me back, just for a moment. This time, with my husband Bobby, who loves these old-school vibes just as much as I do (as you can probably tell from the video). Psst! A fun fact! We actually got together during Chinese New Year, so this video feels especially on point, a little quirky, and very us . I love that we’re now making new CNY memories together. Here are some photos from shooting this series ✨📸 Dessert photo overload incoming… 🍰✨ And yes!! The desserts featured in the video are so delicious. We enjoyed these CNY goodies thoroughly, and here are our honest thoughts 👀👇 🀄 10pcs Mahjong Pineapple Tarts | $35.80 My favourite! Not overly sweet at all, and the mahjong tile fondant adds a fun, unexpected twist to the classic pineapple tart. Traditional — but with personality. 🐎 Zodiac Macaron Tower in Gift Box | $168 This has to be my most  favourite. Every time I ask anyone what their favourite macaron brand in Singapore is, the answer is always Annabella Patisserie. And now — a whole tower of it, complete with the cutest zodiac animals. I’m obsessed 😍 🧁 12pc Lucky New Year Cupcakes in Gift Box | $78.80 Such a great festive gift. It instantly brightens up any dinner table and makes the perfect dessert after mala steamboat. 🌶️🔥 (You need  something sweet after that.) A little CNY joy, shared with you ✨ If you liked what you saw in this post, I’m giving the little joys featured here to you . One lucky winner will receive: • $100 JOVET vouchers • $100 Annabella Patisserie vouchers • $100 Shunji Matsuo vouchers • $100 Yuan Zhong Siu Feng Shui Consultancy online shopping credits That’s $400 worth of vouchers  in total 🤯✨ 👉 Click the button below to take part! Thank you for joining me on this Spring Festival adventure and for going back in time with me, even if just for a moment. Happy Chinese New Year! May the Year of the Fire Horse bring you abundant good fortune, good health, and a year filled with meaningful moments! ✨🐎 Your friend, Juliana

  • CNY Goodies Tasting: A Not-So-Square Toblerone Truffles Moment 🍫🧧

The CNY festivities have officially begun in the Stryker household. 🧧✨ And of course, we’re starting with one of my favourite rituals - CNY goodies tasting. This is not your ordinary chocolate moment. I was fortunate enough to be sent the all-new Toblerone Truffles, and I have to say - they’re pretty fun. Think honey and almond nougat filling, wrapped in a quirky angular shell that’s definitely not a square. Slightly confusing at first… but also very on brand and oddly delightful. 😉 What surprised me most was the crunchy centre. It’s the kind that makes you reach for just one more without realising it. Now, full transparency: I’m very much a dark chocolate person, so this isn’t something I would personally buy all year round. But knowing my family and friends? This would disappear very quickly during CNY visits. It’s the kind of chocolate that’s easy to share, easy to enjoy, and perfect for festive snacking. Same iconic Toblerone flavour, but in a brand-new way to enjoy it. Safe to say, this one’s going onto our CNY goodies list. So tell me - are you a dark chocolate person or a milk chocolate person? Psst! You can find the Toblerone Truffles here: Your friend, Juliana
