This weekend, I’ll be walking Noel Caleb’s fashion runway that will be held at The Sail at Marina Bay! 😀 Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes of a fashion show? Well, before I ‘strut my stuff’ on the runway, I thought I could show you the preparation that goes into a runway show as well as a sneak preview of the Noel Caleb Jonah Collection. Click for your Jonah treat! The ladies of the runway show. Since most of us are catwalk newbies, Noel Caleb invited veteran model Jessica Ee to help us polish our walk. The session commenced with a mini catwalk show where we had to show Jessica our walks. Pretty Sulastri  strutting her stuff. I’ve never done this before so it was a sink or swim situation for me. I look pretty lost here. Haha! Jessica was very funny throughout the rehearsal and often made remarks like ‘I’m gonna scrutinize and criticize your walks like I’m Noami Campbell because being nice does not pay off!’ Jessica’s antics and the cheery banter with the girls certainly made the catwalk rehearsals a much relaxed and happier experience. My main takeaway from the session was to walk and pose with confidence. According to Jessica, I have the tendency to abruptly break my walk and pose. So she advised that I should always know when I’m going to stop and prepare to pose. Also twisting my torso slightly and throwing my shoulders forward during the pose will accentuate the narrowness of my waist and make me look more confident. Now who says modeling is easy??? I wore a pair of turquoise heels that day which Jessica strongly disapproved of. She advised that we wear only nude or black 5-inch stiletto heels during the show because they go very well with outfits of any color. Thanks Noel Caleb and Jessica for giving me a good reason to go shopping. 😛 Immediately after the session, I broke the bank and bought a few shoes and of course, also this pair of gorgeous suede nude heels from Aldo for the fashion show. After all that striding on our imaginary runway, we had our first dress fitting with the pretty clothes of the Jonah Collection. Then it’s camwhore time! Oooh – I spy a nice little pre-Christmas Christmas present under the tree this year. 😛 I tell you, Santa never gets it wrong! Chancing upon this photo from my trip to Bangladesh earlier this year, I was reminded of the kindness and generosity I experienced at every turn. Even these old rickshaw uncles went out of their way to help me take the perfect picture while expecting nothing in return. What we see here in Singapore is just the tip of the iceberg. They have millionaires and Nobel Peace Prize winners, doctors and lawyers, rich and poor people, the same as any nation. What we see here simply reflects a very specific demographic and after experiencing such kindness, I was even more sad seeing how the Bangladeshi community here has been especially affected by this cruel and unforgiving virus. Here’s a short message to show our solidarity and support for the Bangladeshi community here, separated from their families and loved ones, likely worried and afraid. Inner beauty is great but a little contouring never hurts. And I’m not talking about contouring with makeup! Don’t worry – there are no needles involved either. Our skin is fighting a losing battle with aging everyday. On top of the hectic work schedules and chronic sleep deprivation, we’re also exposed to air pollution in our little island city. The largest organ of our body really doesn’t have it easy. There will come a time when it’ll be difficult to ignore all the obvious signs of aging staring back at me in the mirror. So these days, the key focus of my beauty regime is to soften the effects of time on my face. My ultimate beauty nemesis is probably my obvious nasolabial folds aka the smile lines. After the procedure, I was treated to a relaxing 20 min facial mask to calm the redness, followed by a slew of aftercare products before we called it a day. In case you’re wondering, the entire treatment lasted about an hour. Afterthoughts… I have an extremely low threshold for heat and pain so the treatment wasn’t all comfortable and pleasant for me. My therapist had to pause a few times for me to ‘take a break.’ Despite the mild discomfort, I thought I could see a small improvement in my wrinkle problem. As you can tell, my skin was still pretty red and sensitive after the treatment but all that subsided within a few hours. My blemishes also disappeared after a few days, giving me a clearer and more radiant looking complexion. So I can safely say there’s minimal downtime and my skin definitely reaped heaps of benefits from this procedure. According to Dr Rachel Lim, I may require 3 to 5 more sessions to see more notable results. All in all, I was very happy with the service rendered by Dr Rachel and her team. Back in 2014, I gave it my all when I began planning my Disney-themed wedding . I practically used every waking moment to brainstorm ideas and fulfill wedding-related errands.
