Beauty Salon Review: Jabelle De Beaute
Lose weight (while relaxing) does not get any easier than this!
Today, I embarked on a train trip towards an unfamiliar direction – to the west side of Singapore.
And this blog post documents the chronicles of my ‘Journey to the West’. 🙂
I took the train on the North South Line and arrived at Choa Chu Kang Station, then hopped on the LRT (along the Bukit Panjang LRT Line) to go to Teck Whye LRT Station to finally (deep breath) reach my destination – ITE College West!
No, I’m not here for school or to teach.
In fact, I’m here for a delightful spa session!
Yes. There’s a full-fledged spa right smack in the middle of the school.
And today, I was invited by the spa, Jabelle De Beaute to try out their services.
This is me with Kathy and Sharon, the owners of Jabelle De Beaute.
We sat down for a brief consultation where they tried to understand some of my body woes before giving any recommendations.
My hectic schedule has bred a neglected diet and an unhealthy lifestyle. It doesn’t help that I’m also exercise-deprived.
So I’m in a pretty bad shape now – dull skin and flabby physique.
And now, I’m desperate for a miracle revival measure that can help me restore the radiance of my skin and firm up my jello legs.
Upon hearing this, the ladies at Jabelle De Beaute suggested that I try their Slimming Massage and MEED Treatment that stimulates and revitalizes cells and tissues to achieve a slimmer and trimmer body.
I was excited! Look at that happy face! 😀
Before the treatment began, the Jabelle ladies introduced the products that they were going to use during the treatment.
And they include:
The treatment seeks to marry the benefits of a slimming massage and a spa retreat to give you the most rejuvenating and satisfying experience.
The following wholesome products are used to achieve my weight loss goals and total relaxation at the same time. They contain natural ingredients such as wheatgerm oil, macadamia oil and jojoba oil.

Aromatherapy oils were used to balance and completely relax the body and mind.
And let the treatment begin!
I was led to the first room for my body scrub.
The room was romantically lit with votive candles and serenaded by soothing jazz music.
After the body scrub, I went into the steam bath cabin beside the massage room…
… and took a nice 15-minute steam bath to enhance blood circulation and soothe my tired muscles.
After the relaxing steam bath session, I was led to a different massage room for my massage.
Before the massage began, I was asked to directly inhale the chosen aromatherapy oil (in this case I chose the lavender scent) deeply for five times. This produces a comforting and uplifting effect on the mind and body.
Thereafter, my MEED treatment begins.
The MEED treatment ties in both the western medicine and the traditional chinese medicine (TCM) studies with a massage that regulates the energy flow from superficial to deeper levels, from the exterior to the interior. Sounding like a yoga coach now eh?
During the treatment, the therapists used a machine that delivered gentle electric pulses to my sagging muscles. According to Sharon, this will induce muscle contractions on my body and improve blood circulation. The end result will be firmer skin and fat that are easier to burn when I exercise later.
Here’s what I think about the treatment… Honestly, the treatment was not the most comfortable I’ve tried. I have a pretty low pain threshold so the electric pulses felt slightly painful especially on areas where there are less fats such as the calves and arms.
Throughout the treatment, Sharon periodically asked if I was feeling okay. Finally, I sheepishly told her that I wasn’t feeling too comfortable and she immediately altered the treatment slightly. She used the machine on areas with more fats and massaged (with bare hands) on areas with less.
Aaah… Much better.
After the treatment, I felt extremely thirsty. I guess it was due to dehydration by the steam bath.
I was immediately served a cup of warm water by the Jabelle ladies.
I had mild muscle aches after the treatment – like those you get after a workout. But I thought the results were still pretty satisfactory.
As seen in the introductory photo, I weighed myself in the morning before the treatment and I was at 47.5kg and after, I weighed 46.4kg!
According to Sharon, the quick weight loss is a common phenomenon. The relaxed muscles from the MEED treatment weighs lesser than the tense muscles before. So the loss is only temporary!
However, she emphasized that prolonged stimulation of the cells and tissues by the MEED treatment coupled with a healthy lifestyle (i.e. regular exercise and a balanced diet), will hasten the slimming process and produce long-lasting results.
Overall, it was a great experience. The spa treatment was both relaxing and rejuvenating and I thought I smelled like a huge lavender flower after the treatment.
I also loved the welcoming and cosy ambience of the spa.
The beauty therapists were very experienced and offered excellent service.

Look out for a 7-Eleven convenience store that is located on the opposite of the main entrance of the school.

Behind the scenes!
This was actually my first slimming treatment and here are my thoughts on such treatments…
I think it’s a fallacy to think that you can rely solely on steam baths and massages to lose weight. Like Sharon said, you’ll still have to do your part to maintain a healthy lifestyle and get rid of vices such as smoking or drinking alcoholic beverages for these body shape treatments to work well.
Slimming treatments and products will only support your slimming journey by expediting the weight loss. For best results, you’ll still have to watch what you eat, sleep well and stay happy!
