Chancing upon this photo from my trip to Bangladesh earlier this year, I was reminded of the kindness and generosity I experienced at every turn. Even these old rickshaw uncles went out of their way to help me take the perfect picture while expecting nothing in return. What we see here in Singapore is just the tip of the iceberg. They have millionaires and Nobel Peace Prize winners, doctors and lawyers, rich and poor people, the same as any nation. What we see here simply reflects a very specific demographic and after experiencing such kindness, I was even more sad seeing how the Bangladeshi community here has been especially affected by this cruel and unforgiving virus. Here’s a short message to show our solidarity and support for the Bangladeshi community here, separated from their families and loved ones, likely worried and afraid. Inner beauty is great but a little contouring never hurts. And I’m not talking about contouring with makeup! Don’t worry – there are no needles involved either. Our skin is fighting a losing battle with aging everyday. On top of the hectic work schedules and chronic sleep deprivation, we’re also exposed to air pollution in our little island city. The largest organ of our body really doesn’t have it easy. There will come a time when it’ll be difficult to ignore all the obvious signs of aging staring back at me in the mirror. So these days, the key focus of my beauty regime is to soften the effects of time on my face. My ultimate beauty nemesis is probably my obvious nasolabial folds aka the smile lines. Since I was a young, impressionable and super vain (haha!) teenager, I’d always noticed how prominent they looked. And of course, these past few years of adulting doesn’t make them better. Now let the treatment begin! After a thorough cleansing session, my therapist applied a layer of gel before proceeding to administer the actual treatment using a probe as seen below to deliver the shear waves to targeted areas on my skin. My face was evidently flushed after the treatment. You can see this image below for a clearer before and after comparison. After the procedure, I was treated to a relaxing 20 min facial mask to calm the redness, followed by a slew of aftercare products before we called it a day. In case you’re wondering, the entire treatment lasted about an hour. Afterthoughts… I have an extremely low threshold for heat and pain so the treatment wasn’t all comfortable and pleasant for me. My therapist had to pause a few times for me to ‘take a break.’ Despite the mild discomfort, I thought I could see a small improvement in my wrinkle problem. As you can tell, my skin was still pretty red and sensitive after the treatment but all that subsided within a few hours. My blemishes also disappeared after a few days, giving me a clearer and more radiant looking complexion. So I can safely say there’s minimal downtime and my skin definitely reaped heaps of benefits from this procedure. According to Dr Rachel Lim, I may require 3 to 5 more sessions to see more notable results. All in all, I was very happy with the service rendered by Dr Rachel and her team. Back in 2014, I gave it my all when I began planning my Disney-themed wedding . I practically used every waking moment to brainstorm ideas and fulfill wedding-related errands. Can’t believe our last update about #Bobblianahome was almost a year ago. To help you recall, this was our last post – Our New Home . And now, it’s time for another #Bobblianahome entry to clue you in on our latest developments. Yay! You last heard we were going to update all the fixtures, lightings and appliances and our plans included – creating a Dolby Atmos home theatre, getting a convertible dining/pool table, building a fireplace and many many more!Can’t forget – also styling the ultimate Girl Cave! Haha! Well, we did get a dining/pool table and a fireplace but to create a a Dolby Atmos home theatre, we’ll need to upgrade our electrical system and rewire the entire house. The project is a home-tastrophe, I tell you! This means our house will need to check into design rehab and get a complete makeover. Initially, we wanted to take matters into our own hands and design the place ourselves. It can’t be that hard, can it? So we started picking our brains to conceptualize everything, from the shelves to the faux ceilings. Well, of course our design didn’t take into account important structural factors that impact the existing concealed pipes and wire system. Another important component is project management. We had to draw up a comprehensive construction schedule with all our prospective contractors. This we reckon, is going to upset our stress meter even further. Finally, we decided to hand all our designs to an Interior Designer our friends recommended and guess what? He came up with some pretty badass 3D drawings within weeks! I thought it would be fun to show you what they look like before we embark on this crazy Interior Designing ride. Click to check out the photos! We wanted a cozy European setting so our designer added a touch of modern Edwardian elements in the designs. Here we go! The faux fireplace truly brought the magic of Christmas into our home and was an extra special treat for my hubby, reminiscent of his days as a little boy growing up in the UK.
