Good things come to those who moisturise. Alas, my time has come.. All this time I thought I’d managed to dodge a certain viral bullet but it seems my luck is up and not only was I hit, so was my hubby, my brother and even my mommy dearest, all within a few days of one another. As we evolve, our spaces should too. When I first designed our office 7 years ago, I had very different business goals. The office was meant to be a communal space where like-minded individuals would gather to collaborate, create content and enjoy the perks of being a member of Honeyz Cube (my beauty encyclopedia website). Things are very different today due to the pandemic and the government-imposed restrictions that didn't allow gatherings of any sort back in 2020. Hence, I decided to shift the goal posts and close down that side of my business to channel my energy towards my mobile clinic and blog. I believe our space has to inspire us and tell our story and at the moment, it's not telling mine very well. So I decided to give the Bunny HQ a makeover to reflect my rejuvenated entrepreneurial story, my current decor preferences while creating a fresh new backdrop for upcoming shoots and campaigns. I really took my time with this one as it's the place where my creative juices flow and momentous work milestones are achieved. 😁 I'm so glad I'm finally able to do it with gorgeous furniture pieces from IUIGA . I fell in love with their furniture and home decor items when I visited their Furniture Fair a few months ago and the rest is history. You wouldn't believe how the space used to look before this big metamorphosis. Due to our busy schedules, I neglected this corner of my office for months, accumulating tons of props, studio equipment, random knick knacks from shoots, eventually leading it into a derelict state. This is exactly what I need for a reading nook. Rustic Jute Round Rug ($189) I also like the idea of a carpet in the space as it creates some kind of segregation from the rest of the space, realising my little reading nook idea. I went to a Halloween-themed Disney event (which I shared about on Instagram ), saw a few patients with the RESCU Rangers and am now just chilling and waiting for my Grab dinner to arrive. As I was waiting, I was also admiring our little Fall dining table centrepiece that I'm super proud of. You are the pumpkin to my spice! It's that time of the year again where Starbucks delights our tastebuds with their signature Pumpkin Spice Latte! I profess I fall prey to this yummilicious autumnal drink every time they launch it, then find myself feeling guilty right after as it makes a serious dent on my financial and calorie wallet. So this year, I decided to create my own Pumpkin Spice Latte recipe that (in my honest opinion, and my husband and brother's) tastes just as good as the real thing at three times less the calories! Such a bargain, don't you think? Now let's add some scream and sugar! 👻 Let's talk ingredients! Ingredients: 50g of pumpkin puree (18kcal) 4g of instant coffee (12kcal) 3 dashes of Pumpkin Spice powder (0kcal) 120g of skimmed milk (38kcal) 15g of Walden Farms Maple Walnut Syrup or 2 Equal Classic Sweetener tablets (0kcal) 100g of boiling water (0kcal) 10g of whipped cream (24kcal) Total calories of Jules' Pumpkin Spice Latte (295ml): 92kcal Directions: Mix all the ingredients together with a spoon or milk frother in a microwave-safe cup. Then put the cup in the microwave and heat it for 30 seconds. And et voila! Your very own low-calorie Pumpkin Spice Latte is ready! As we enter the final stretch of the year, my heart is usually aflutter with an electric buzz in anticipation of Halloween and of course, the most wonderful time of the year, Christmas! However this year – it all felt completely the opposite and it’s no surprise why. After my beloved Ah Gong passed away in May and B had to go for several surgeries along with other happenings, it’s been a truly challenging and testing year for us. Knowing that our Christmas get together this year would be missing one special place at the dining table, it had me torn up inside and instead of looking forward to it, I was starting to dread it. As they say, memories that once made you laugh now make me want to cry and those memories that made me cry now make me want to laugh. Anyone who’s followed me will know how much I adore these times but this year I just found myself questioning so many things and whether there was any point celebrating. Recently, B was given the all clear and suddenly, there seemed to be some glimmer of hope. Other things started to fall into place and it dawned on me that while really a lot has happened this year, I’m still so fortunate and still have so much to be grateful for. It really helped me draw some perspective on what matters and what doesn’t. I have my beloved Ah Ma, my parents and of course B, all there championing my corner in the game of life and as I sat down to centre myself and my thoughts, that spark started to reappear. If anything is clear, it’s that life is fickle, short and I can’t sit around moping and lose valuable time that I could be spending with my loved ones and doing things I find meaningful. With B by my side, better late than never, the Halloween decorations finally came out and so did that warm fuzzy feeling I always get this time of year. The excitement and anticipation started to return. And as my excitement grew so it did in the eyes of my family and they’re all already asking what we’ll be doing for Christmas this year. I know in my heart Ah Gong is always with me and there’s no way he’d want me sitting there like a recluse in a corner, abandoning everything that was important to me. So with Ah Gong in my heart and everyone else who’s been there supporting me all the way, let’s have some fun! Because life’s too serious and no one gets out alive anyway! Here comes the interesting part - even when I rinse my hair at the end of the day, they still feel like they've been conditioned and treated by a heavy duty conditioner. My hair still feels very smooth even in the shower. What sorcery is this??? Check out the results in the photo above!
